Jazzy Jeff inspired a generation of 80’s kids with classics such as ‘Live from Union Square’ and ‘A Touch of Jazz’ with his right hand man the Fresh Prince. I was one of those kids who used to scratch my head with amazement after listening to his turntable skills. Chrome hits the nail on the head with his nostalgic rhymes in this respectful nod to the man Jazzy Jeff aka Jeff Townes. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 22, 1965, Jazzy Jeff took to the DJ booth at age 10. He worked in area clubs, pioneering the transformer scratch and chirp scratch. In 1985, he and Will Smith formed the act DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. They sold millions of records and became the first rap act to win a Grammy. To this day he inspires thousands of dj’s with his dance floor rocking sets. So let’s take a second to send our respects to the man with a touch of jazz on the decks. Better known as the Scratch Assassin, K has produced some of the most successful DJ scratch tracks with appearances on more than 15 mix cds and compilations in Japan alone where he has a very loyal fan base. An original member of the Jeep Beat Collective from Manchester who were featured on the classic ‘Return Of The DJ’ album and also worked with renowned labels such as Ninja Tunes, Bomb and Bolshi. The Jeep Beat Collective we’re one of the first crew’s in the world to reintroduce the art of scratching back on the music map and had some sizeable success with it. Their album The Technics Chainsaw Massacre was released on Bomb records in America and reached No.1 in the CMJ College Radio airplay charts and their tracks were regularly licensed to compilations such as Journeys by DJ’s and The Document by Andy Smith. 

Although his DJ style is very technical and influenced by hip hop dj’s such as Jazzy Jeff and Cash Money his sets actually encompass a lot of different styles ranging from Breaks, Soul, Reggae, Funk, Electro as well as Hip Hop and R&B. K went on tour with DJ Yoda across the UK and dazzled the next generation of music lovers with his ability to keep each and every one rooted to dance floor whilst keeping the Hip Hop heads happy with the occasional flashes of turntableism.
This was swiftly followed by the DMC tour with Woody and Dopey in 2005, which won K more fans of his DJ madness. Over the years he has also supported touring artists such as Jazzy Jeff, Rahzel, Wu Tang Clan, Biz Markie, Cold Crush, Souls of Mischief, Cash Money and many more.

In 2005 K was approached by Temper (one of the most successful graffiti artists in the UK) to put together a live mix session that can be downloaded for free for the launch of his new temper-bmc.com website. This mix has since been downloaded over 25,000 times from music lovers around the world and has been charted alongside DJ Shadow and Z-Trip in the top ten DJ downloads on the net! Also in this year K set up Playing Around Records with award winning producer Evil Ed. The first release was  K-Delight’s The Real Thing ep, which is collaboration with his long time co-producer The Voodoo Guru, and features the amazing DJ Kentaro from Japan and some guest production from Evil Ed. This was followed by various vinyl releases and remixes too.

2007 saw the release of K-Delight’s mix cd Ctrl: Alt: The Beat which was released and commissioned by the popular UKHH.com who is officially the most hit UK web site in the world. This was the first release on the label with many high praising reviews in the music press……

with an impressive cast of guests that includes: DJ Kentaro, Lewis Parker, Evil Ed, Eddie Scratch, DJ Woody, DJ JS-1 and more. There is a nice mix of instrumental cuts and vocal tracks. All in all a really, really good listen and recommended for this week!
