STELLA MARIS

It began two years ago, when my brother brought a poem to me and asked me to set a tune to it. From there, we began exploring a lot of Church music, Christian hymns, folk-tunes and so forth. The score had to sound like it belonged to a very particular era, and yet be quite alien at the same time. It was about building an idiosyncratic world visually and sonically around the central mother-son relationship. Something that alluded to existing traditions and archetypes, and yet felt strangely unfamiliar. And so we ended up with a score that ranged from full-blown original choral settings of "Ave Maria", to introverted drones built from the sounds of Church bells.

INLAND FREAKS

There is the question, and there is the answer. This piece dances around this idea with many voices, each raising the same question, but in a different light. So we started with an eclectic chamber ensemble of a woodwind quartet, 2 violins and 2 vibraphones.
