Thyroid Solomon

Collaboration between me mate Andrew Szabo in Leeds and meself in Gqeberha (the artist formerly known as PE). Andy did all the guitar (and came up with the title)and I did the other stuff. He and I played in some bands with memorable names over the years: Random Outbursts Of Any Kind Will Not Be Tolerated, or ROOAKWNBT, and the one-off Kranky Unkle Frank. He mostly hit things with sticks in those bands.

Sceptic Tank

Yurg (parts i and ii) is an instrumental guitar piece recorded for local Gqeberha theatre/filmmaker Jacques Batista's independent dance/film, "And Not a Word Was Spoken," which was screened at the South African National Arts Festival's Online Fringe Programme in 2022.

The disembodied voices come from an old broken tape from my 90s teenager cassette collection of bad home demos and radio segments (went through the process of digitizing thanks to a friend who lent me a tape deck), and were added separately to the music that appears in the film. 

I enjoy the various sounds of tape experiencing entropy. Subterranean warble. Musique concrète, sampling and any type of "found sound" sound collage are also rich sources of inspiration. Anything is fair game in my book. There's music to be had in odd corners. Peace 2022

Jedi Rollers - Sovereign Coin (2022)

Strange Little Man was a band from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, active between 2000 and 2004, featuring Kendal Beadon on vocals/guitar/bass/synth, Brynley Coetzee on vocals/percussion and Richard Brunyee on piano/synth/vocals.  Live members of the band included Robert Szabo, Sebastian Cooper and Buli G. 
The "Milkwood EP" was recorded in 2003 at the Cape Town studio of well-known South African musician Tim Parr. This is the title track from that EP.  Beats, electric guitars and production by Juan Thyme.

Sunrises and Roundabouts is a track by a band called Flipside that I used to be part of, active between 2003 and 2004. The song was part of an EP recorded by at Platinum Productions, Port Elizabeth, in 2004.

Slipper is a track written and performed by my friend Caleb Eastwood. I sang vocals on the chorus. He passed away early in 2013. I post this song here in his memory. RIP my brother.

Slipper

Independent South African singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/dabbler/home-producer. Looking to experiment with genres and sounds, and collaborate with other local artists. But mostly in the acoustic to alternative rock to dub reggae/trip hop/indietronica/ambient sort of area. Bits and pieces lying around, dotting the cultural landscape. Funk, Latin rhythms, world music, glitch, whatever.

Slowly but surely building the archive of recorded songs from incompletely recorded/mixed material that's been sitting on hard drives for years, as well as more contemporary material. I never intended to share a lot of it, but life's too short to be your own gatekeeper, when so many already exist.
