2025年3月4日に惜しくもこの世を去ったレジェンドRoy Ayersのキャリア黄金期と呼ぶ に相応しい70年代前半からのRoy Ayers Ubiquityのギタリストとしてのキャリア、そし て何よりも77年リリースの自身唯一のリーダー作にしてレアグルーヴ史に輝く名盤『リズ ム・オブ・ライフ』の存在で、時代/ジャンルの壁を越えたプロップスを集め続けるリヴィ ング・レジェンド=ジェームズ・メイソン。

2025年7月23日には日本にて『ジェームズ・メイソン “リズム・オブ・ライフ” リヴィジ テッド at Blue Note Tokyo』単独公演、8月14日~17日にイギリスにて開催の『We Out Here Festival』への出演もアナウンスされその活動に注目が集まる中、名盤『リズ ム・オブ・ライフ』の楽曲を3アーティストが新たな生命を吹き込んで再生させるリミッ クスEP『JAMES MASON REMIXES』がアナログ・オンリーのリミテッド・プロダクト としてリリース。

ジャズ~レアグルーヴ・サイドは元より、ロフト~ディープ・ハウスサイド、そして 97年 にMo' WaxからのAttica Bluesによるカヴァーでヒップホップ・サイドからの人気も高 い、パーカッシヴでドライブ感のあるフロア・クラシック「Free」を、原曲の躍動感をジ ャジーでアーバンな2000blackサウンド/グルーヴで再生させるDegoによる「Free - 2000black Remix」。
