"Caught somewhere between a 4am Balearic summer sunrise and a 4pm Nordic autumn sunset Body In The Thames’ Public Domain 3D Terrain is an LP length release that spans 5 tracks of beautifully crafted electronic music for all the orange skied dancefloors in your head. There are no dense narratives, no elaborate concepts, just a set of perfectly formed, artfully shaped and well-proportioned grooves.
Body In The Thames specialises in the kind of bright, complex and expressive electronic music that might as easily channel Tangerine Dream as it does Grace Jones, flitting as he does between the cinematic and the playful. Witness how Alligator Souffle waddles out of the kitchen and onto the sun lounger with a reptilian swagger, while Xanthe Acid Youth prefers to gaze up through the cosmos over nine misty-eyed minutes.

Written and produced in the Stockholm basement studio that he shares with Gustav Ejstes of Dungen, Body In The Thame’s voltaic psychedelia is neat and precise, a musician’s take on a DJ Harvey set. Over the EP’s final two tracks he feeds the baggy shirted Cafe Del Mar crowd his own brand of expansive and precision tooled machine funk. Bus Trips rides a squelchy 303 baseline (sic) overlaid with chiming arpeggios and soaring synth silhouettes. Some People Just Never Know When To Leave weaves a downtempo 808 b-boy jam, melodious chords bouncing like an interstellar low-rider pulling slo-mo doughnuts up and down the milky way.

Of course, you’ll have to enjoy these delights from the comfort of your own home for now. But why should that stop you from booking a ticket on the Nordic-Balearic express, running 5 times a day from Stockholm to Eivissa? "

The venue was far too busy. Smoke filled every coner of the room and condensation dripped from the ceiling. He had no idea where his friend had vanished to. Somewhere within the crowd she was now lost to the mercy of music and movement. As he looked through the body of shadows he could see very little which might give any indication as to her whereabouts. He started to panic, started to dance because he had little choice and continued to move between the sea of darkness. He needed her now, his friend. 

Kerem Akdag appears on a new EP for Apparel Music as part of a sixth birthday release edition. His charming take on a sound which has been commonly associated with South London sees him get deep.

William Florelle - Next Time I'll Learn (K15 Remix)

Dimensions Recordings’ fifth release sees the label step into the world of the longplayer with Istanbul native, KEREM AKDAG’s self titled debut album.

Kerem has already been winning fans of the ilk of Gilles Peterson through his output of dusty house and tripped out beats in the last few years, and of course via his Getdownsoclose offering on Dimensions’ debut release. His debut album however, sees Kerem deliver a mature piece of work, bright and timeless, equally effective in the club as it is at home and brimming with ideas, hooks and must have songs.

Across eight tracks Kerem demonstrates a breadth of skills that most artists would work a lifetime to achieve. From the stepping beats of When I Think Of You to his subtle vocal layers on Isolated and from the woozy beach vibes of Sultan to the rasping synths of Unite it’s clear that there’s very little that’s outside of Kerem’s arsenal. The album rounds out fittingly with Drums Please, which perfectly displays Kerem’s jazz tendencies, a slow grooving track whose crescendo of stabs and drums create a song that’s more powerful than its parts.

Kerem Akdag’s debut album clearly sets out the stall for a man who has a lot to say and has the capability to say it loud!

Sunshine, weekend - and all that jazz! Zurich‘s own Melodiesinfonie digged deep into We Do Not Want To Wait and lays bare its very soul. A delightfully laid-back take that presses all the  right buttons for what could essentially be the best summer yet!

Sofatalk - Like a Magpie (Kaidi Tatham Remix)

Gin Tonic Orchestra, a brand new band out of St. Etienne (France), deliver the second release on Mother Tongue records.

The brainchild of keyboard player and producer Victor Dijoud - also known as Kaffe Crème - and drummer Leo Puccio, alongside multiple collaborators both in their studio and stage incarnations, Gin Tonic Orchestra is a collective of young talents, gathering their musical inspiration from future jazz, broken beat and latin vibes.

The Stefania EP - a tribute to their native city - is the band’s debut recording showcasing compositions such as “Hands On The Drums”, a driven yet subtle soulful track coloured with jazzy cymbals and lush harmonies and “Get A Umbaye”, where Afro-latin grooves are juxtaposed against elements of funk and ethereal flute solos, reminiscent of the London and New York acid jazz era.

UK legendary keyboard player and producer Kaidi Tatham appears on track two of side A with a stunning remix of “Hands On The Drums” mixed by none other than Eric Lau, giving the track a new life with a heavy broken beat feel, filled with syncopated riffs and intricate synth solos.

Contours, a UK based DJ and producer, known for bubbling dance rhythms and undertone melodies focuses on a wide range of organic percussion on this 4 track EP. 

Rounding off the record, we premiere the remix from one of the London underground scene’s key contemporary figures, K15, adding a darker tone to the flow of the track while upping the dancefloor energy of the groove.
