John/N1OIE on his first activation of Mt Herman (9063 ft/2762 m)for SOTA is called by CT1HIX (Portugal)!! John was using KX2 10w to 55' long wire in tree 15' above summit with 2000' prominence over valley floor looking east. Band conditions were "fair" according to solar weather reports. Great DX contact!  Thank you, "Gomes" Carlos!!

During my SOTA activation on Mt Peck (12,200ft/3718.56m)I suddenly hear DX coming up out of the noise it's Oscar/EA1DR ...I quickly answer him several times but sadly to no avail  ...THEN he calls again under another chaser I reply once more and he finally hears me! YES!! Note this would be impossible without flawless Elecraft QSK (full break-in T/R)

Using SSB(voice) on 17m with KX2 to End Fed wire  I work John/ZLiBYZ in New Zealand!  This was on the 3rd Peak of our Four SOTA Summit adventure.
