The mix series and music platform Mantissa takes its first steps into the label space with Mantissa 001. Written and produced by a close friend to the Mantissa family, this unnamed and elusive artist has begun the label with a bang, three club focused, space inspired tracks designed to decimate a dancefloor or atone a night's shenanigans at an after's.
Space Cadet opens the extra-terrestrial affair, weaving from acoustic elements to electronic and eclectic synth lines. Frozen Bounce finalising the A side with a wobbly number, woven together with quick cuts and jerky elements. U10A, the most structured of a complex affair, is a warming club tool perfect for both beginning and finishing an evening. It's remix similarly suitable for any party specific scenario, produced by the infamously talented artist Ciel.

"The best mixes for me feel personal, so if there was something to take away from this mix it’s that I want you to feel like you’ve gotten to know me a bit. It’s a journey mix that just sort of explores my mind and emotions of late. I made it fully in Ableton because it’s easier for me to deal with all the vocals that way, you’ll hear my voice weaving in and out at times acting as the narrator. The opening track is an unreleased collab with Irish producer Lighght, whom I met on the internet and is lovely. The last track is a short instrumental piece in progress that I’m working on. I’m enamoured with Caroline Polachek, so I took one of her CEP tracks to make ‘Caroline’s interlude’. The words spoken over Loraine’s track are Cecile Believe lyrics. I also wanted to include a moment to pay respect to DJ Rashad, who’s music is a massive source of inspiration and comfort."

“Welcome to 24 hours with an alien. My name’s Katya, I’m a London based DJ originally from Russia. The idea behind the takeover is that I’m going to be taking you on a day in my UFO, to many different planets each exploring a different genre. We’ll be starting somewhere deep under the Drexciyan sea with an electro set courtesy of Gunfinger Food & Mixtress. We’ll gradually head to space for Dr Watson’s set and make it all the way to Tres-2b, the darkest planet in the universe, for eXpressO’s set. After that we’re gonna start heading back to Earth for sunrise, listening to Jake Walker’s set along the way. We’ll make it to London for a day of UK bass, Garage & Funky. Once we finish up in London, we’ll make our way back to space with Dr Baird, Seven Hills Records, Tañ & Rough. We go back to the dark planet for an industrial techno & electro finish.
