With each track built upon a permutating sonic foundation, these are muscular and expertly paced compositions that effortlessly transition between hypnotic rhythms and textural and timbral experimentation.

A rhythmically simple melody was generated by the shareware program AlComp (algorithmic composer), using a weighted probability between two complementary pitch sets.  This melody is played simultaneously by 12 instruments in a ‘staggered unison’, where the attack of each note has been randomised within a possible range of four beats (preserving durations).  The rhythmic flow is further developed by repeated, chance-determined changes in tempo.  Each instrument takes turns to drop out of the texture for a fixed unit of time.  Although each instrument plays in standard 12-tone equal temperament, each is tuned to a different frequency within the range of a semitone.

This is my full live PA from Void Tactical Media presents Darkmatter Soundsystem.  What's a Live PA?  For me it means  you make it up as you go and the performance develops in the atmosphere of the party.   Live recordings always have wacky mixes because you're playing off the soundsystem, not in studio - so I wanted to remaster this one a bit before posting.  This set was one of my best experiences playing live, so please enjoy!

This recordings contains a lot of my unreleased material, so I'm leaving downloads off for now.  You'll be hearing some these tracks on Void Tactical and Form and Structure in the near future.

Split Horizon - Live PA  (Recorded at Void Tactical presents Darkmatter, 5/5/12)

Absolutely killer lineup at this festival, and top vibe both days. Big up Subland & ad noiseam for putting this up. Swarm & mono in full defect in a special liveset for this event, smashing shit up in the bar area. Turned out to be a 1 1/2 hour gig and this is the last uptempo part of it. Great to see you all there :)

Burma Scrapes

Central American born Silent Servant has performed worldwide in clubs from LA, Berlin to Osaka. A chance meeting with Karl O'Conner in 1999 would establish a friendship that would open the door to the Sandwell District label in 2006. Silent Servant's sound is a reinterpretation of early '80s post-punk electronics, paired with the deep, metallic sounds of Basic Channel and Downwards.
