A breathless, dreamy gem of a track, this gorgeous rolling house ballad is elixir for the ears from Girls Of The Internet. A live group headed up by Tom Kerridge, Girls Of The Internet is one of a few projects Kerridge dug into having spent over a decade running labels such as RAMP, Fourth Wave and Brainmath. Providing a break from label life, Girls is a new creative outlet generating music that makes tribute to a lifetime of collecting disco and techno records. Enriched by the glowing voice of Seglilola Jolaosho, ‘When U Go’ glitters, demonstrating Kerridge’s ear for combining exquisite harmonies and deep-reaching beats. Italian producer and Afro House A&R for Traxsource, MoBlack delivers a juicy remix and dub, fleshing out the percussion, adding hypnotic synths and introducing a playfully layered acoustic vibe.

LA-based music company, Godmode, is known for taking way-left artists and bringing them slightly more to the center.  After breaking Shamir and Yaeji, the label is back with their latest signing, Channel Tres. Channel grew up in the Compton neighborhood of Los Angeles, and his music is a clear representation of the surly attitude of West Coast rap reimagined with the stylings of Detroit house. Fans of Galcher Lustwerk would be wise to check out this project. Similar to the NYC legend, Channel’s voice is effortlessly deep, expertly processed, and a perfect compliment to his deep, sultry instrumentals.

“Top Down” oozes swagger. While a Paranoid London-esque acid bassline rips through ethereal pads, Channel croons, “bet you ain't never heard shit like this from the block before.” He’s not completely wrong. While he’s not the first to champion a sound like this, he certainly has few modern peers. Aside from how dope the song is, I really appreciate the emphasis he places on individuality as an artist. He says, “never let the scene choose you. Never met a man this cool.” For me, it’s essential for a musician to be original, to believe in the uniqueness of their music, and to not conform to the standards set by a saturated scene. Going forward, I hope Channel sticks to his words. It’s not everyday you hear a debut this polished and full of a variety of influences. I’ll be waiting to hear these tunes at my NYC after-hours, but until then, I’m about to cut the top off my Saturn and slow-ride through Brooklyn. Here’s your invite.

In less than a year, the Compton-born artist Channel Tres has found fans in everyone from Elton John to Anderson Paak to Disclosure. His debut single "Controller" reimagined classic Detroit house with the surly attitude of West Coast rap, and introduced the world to Channel's effortlessly deep baritone. Pitchfork, NPR, Gorilla vs. Bear, BBC Radio 1, Spotify, Apple, Beats1, and KCRW were early champions, along with Australia's esteemed Triple J, who put "Controller" in A-list radio rotation.

Fitting for a genre-bender like Channel, this spring Tres is supporting both electro-pop superstar Robyn and the rapper Vince Staples on their tours throughout North America – including dates at Madison Square Garden and Hollywood Palladium. He's celebrating the tours with a new track called "Brilliant Nigga". It's an ode to a new kind of black exceptionalism, with shades of deep house, West Coast rap, 60s Blue Note, and dub mixing techniques. "Brilliant Nigga" is out March 8 on Godmode, the LA-based tastemakers who also brought the world Yaeji and Shamir.

Sticks & Stonez made their debut release on Glitterbox Recordings earlier this year with the stunning ‘You’re My’, featuring rising star Liv East on vocals. Illustrating the East London duo’s capability as producers, the record took influence from modern house and disco, creating a blissed-out track that transported its listeners to hazy summer days. This new package features the original along with two new remixes. As Simon Dunmore has previously said of Larse’s remixing abilities, “it’s exactly as it should be, providing a completely different vibe to the original.” This remains the case with the German maestro’s mix of ‘You’re My’, as swirling synths and syncopated drum work ready the track for the dancefloor. Up next is the turn of Brooklyn based duo Dave + Sam, who are recent additions to the Classic Music Company family. Weaving in luscious instrumentals, Dave Giles provides an additional spoken vocal adding an extra dose of cool to this essential summer record.
