2020 sees Ormatie returns to Proton Music after an eight-year hiatus with a brand-new original EP in the shape of "Taifun / Uragan". Remixes come from Irish and Moldovan stalwarts.

An artist who burst onto the progressive house scene in 2008 with a remix of Andy Moor & Markus Schulz for the latter's Coldharbour imprint and the three-track "Emoke" EP for Nick Warren's Hope, Ormatie rose rapidly to the highest echelons of the underground dance industry. Further work for Hope and a clutch of credits for Proton, including July 2009's "Birthdays" and September 2010's "Mon Etoile" saw continued success. Now, the Russian returns in 2020 with a new twin-track EP. "Taifun" is full of trademark intricate rhythms and immaculately programmed melodic elements. Swaying gently across the stereo spectrum, a filtered arpeggio wax and wanes, while smooth pads speed and slow with sublime synchronised LFO. Building elegantly into the third movement a bassline progression and emotive chords provide the perfect vehicle for a swathe of counterpoint melodies and searing lead line to flourish. "Uragan" opens with deep kick and fizzing percussive top-line that fills the aural senses. Before long an arpeggio works its off-kilter magic alongside muted stabs that ping-pong left and right. A glorious bassline adds weight and layers of melody paint a vibrant picture from a wonderful sonic palette.

Gavin Mulhall's Silinder alter-ego needs little introduction to those familiar with the Proton Music catalogue. Always in-demand with his flawless production work and innate talent, the Irish artist continues to carve his name into the annals of underground dance music. Since his "Corrupt" debut in September 2012, 2013's "Solas" and 2015's "Basement" have both showcased outstanding original work, while remixes for Andre Sobota, Terry Grant and Dousk has further showcased Silinder's talent. Returning after an August 2019 reworking of Imran Khan, his remix of "Taifun" is an intelligently crafted affair with its chunky rhythmic framework and innovative use of original components. In trademark fashion, a superfluity of original production material infuses Silinder's work, replete with delayed-drenched motifs and reverb-coated keys. The result is a perfect example of why his name is still held in such high regard.

Alex and Andrew have found much success with their two-headed dragon alter-ego. Through Lanvary, the duo has consistently hit the heights with their inventive musical ideas and unique sonic identity. Regulars on Particles since 2015 with the "Micromegas", "Penumbra" and "Leviathan" EPs, 2017's "Venus" and October 2019's "Everything You Feel", lit up the Proton Music catalogue with vivid original work. Adding remixes for Andre Sobota, Hot TuneiK and GMJ & Matter to their burgeoning portfolio, the Lanvary interpretation of "Taifun" is energy-driven affair that packs a punch with wonderfully grooved bassline and rhythmic backdrop. Smooth melodic flourishes that owe their origins to the Ormatie original, glitter before a new motif form the Lanvary production studio emerges in jaunty fashion alongside sympathetic pads to create a highly innovative and impressive reworking.

A powerful storm front has thrust Ormatie back into the limelight with "Taifun / Uragan" and remixes from Silinder and Lanvary.

Continuing to showcase new talent, Soundteller Records welcomes Brunoh to the label for his debut EP. The Argentinean artist first appeared in February of this year with an EP courtesy of Clinique Recordings. The progressive minded two tracker remains his only release to date and proved to be a great introduction to fans of the genre. Now landing on Soundteller, Brunoh continues his journey with the two track ‘Empatia’ EP.

The title track finds the Argentine collaborating with vocalist Jessica Dorado for a spellbinding progressive cut. A full, chugging groove and bulbous beats sit at the foundation, while clattering percussion and retro arps unite above. Timely effects add detail and depth at opportune moments across the first act, before the main break introduces a spoken word vocal to further the tracks intrigue. This storyboard carries across an unassuming drop before a wave of spacey arps highlight the final movement. For the less vocally inclined there is also a dub provided as well.

The companion piece ‘Arpeggio’ comes in a touch smoother with a sleek yet bulbous groove underpinning warm overlays and fuzzy arps. Remarkably smooth and groovy, it’s fluid rhythms and and pleasing design work amazingly well together. Ethereal overlays make for a charming break, adding a touch of anticipation as a smooth rush ushers in a rolling finale. It caps off two stunning tracks from Brunoh who makes a great Soundteller debut and continues a promising start to his production career. Don’t miss it.

Seasoned London based artist Audioglider makes his return on Paul Hazendonk's MNL imprint with the timeless and uplifting 'Last Of The Epicureans'.

Audioglider always brings that unique vibe to the table that we all love her at Manual HQ. His productions sound fresh but with the right dosage of oldschool flavor. Look back to see the future is a phrase that comes to mind when listening to his productions, and with his latest single 'The Last Of The Epicureans' this is no different.

First up on remix duties it's man of the moment Mode Apart who makes his return on MNL after having released various originals - but this being his first ever remix for the label. Coming down from the massive success of this 'Voyage' single on Perspectives Digital which dominated the progressive house charts for weeks he showcases his trademark synth driven grooves once again. Pure magic!

Another artist who makes his return on MNL is Hacobb who debuted on the label earlier this year with his 'Atlast' single. The Greek/Scottish producer, also know for his releases on Modern Agenda, Blaufield Music and High Tide Recordings delivers a remix that will be welcomed with open arms by the progressive house community for sure. It's deep, it's complex and it's intense and driving at the same time. Lovely work!

'Petar Dundov has made an impressive mark on Proton Music thus far with a pair of typically high-class remixes. Reworkings of Simos Tagias and Huminal in September 2019 and 2020 has seen the Croatian become a welcome figure on the label. Returning to the flagship imprint after releasing the glorious new "Ghostmachine" EP with Gregor Tresher on Dubfire's SCI+TEC imprint in October 2020, Petar's debut solo offering for Proton Music sees the beautiful "Salvation / Nature of Nature" take centre stage.

An award-winning iconic figure with two ARIAs to his name with band, Infusion, Jamie Stevens has been a welcome addition to the Proton family with his trademark sound and meticulous production methods. A global touring schedule and a regular on the likes of Bedrock, Lost and Found and Replug saw the Australian remix Rudy's "All Things Fade" for Proton Music in late 2019 while a reworking of Sam Hopgood's "Lobster" in May 2020 saw an impressive Particles debut. Now returning, the aptly titled "Deeper Version" finds Jamie Stevens present a glorious take on "Nature of Nature" as the subtle melodic flourishes of the original ripple across a backdrop of glittering arpeggio and swathes of additional production material. A new lead line swims across the stereo spectrum as a combination of open cutoff filters and textured pads create a wonderful zenith at the mid-point. A rolling beat and percussion adds head-shaking groove to proceedings in an inspiring new interpretation.'

Hailing from Montenegro, Lèrr is recognised for his unique style combining groovy, deep and melodic progressive vibes. His enchanting musical creations have appeared on Balkan Connection, Sound Avenue, Asymmetric, Trndmsk and more so far in 2020. onedotsixtwo are now delighted to welcome Lèrr back for his first original release on the label, following his amazing addition to the Sebastian Busto – December EP (ODST0036) with his remix of ‘Miracle’.  

Places Away opens with intention; a strong kick, razor sharp hats and a rising vox lead us into a warm bubbling bassline which drives the track forward relentlessly, assisted by an ever growing symphony of lush synth-lines that lead us beautifully into a spine-tingling breakdown and out the far side to the finale where all the elements merge into a euphoric crescendo.

To complete this stunning package Argentina’s John Cosani gives us his signature take on Places Away. Known for his deep, groove-laden productions on labels such as Sudbeat, Clinique and Or Two Strangers, John certainly does not disappoint here with an elegant, brooding and haunting, yet beautifully understated gem of a remix which catches you by surprise and takes you away to the next level.
