Riding high off the back of one of her most prolific years in the studio to date, internationally celebrated techno sensation Simina Grigoriu steamrollers into 2022 with continued vigour, as she unveils her next huge extended player, Rooftop Ballerina / Pirouette.
Set for worldwide release on Friday, January 21 via her beloved Kuukou Records imprint, Simina’s emphatic two-part Rooftop Ballerina / Pirouette EP is another remarkable showcase in immersive, avant-garde techno from an artist who has carved out a reputation over the past few years as one of the most industrious and exciting talents on the European techno circuit.
Commencing the double-sided cut with the absorbing opener Rooftop Ballerina, Simina makes her intentions known from the outset, conjuring an uncompromising blend of driving kicks, techy synths and exquisitely layered drum samples to masterful effect. A hard-hitting production and arguably the most intricate rendition on the EP, Simina’s impressive tenacity shines through in spades with this latest offering, as she adds to her flourishing career discography with yet another huge dancefloor weapon.
On the flip, the Kuukou label boss demonstrates her distinctive production versatility with the equally tough finale, Pirouette. Building a mesmerising array of distorted undulating basslines and glitchy, industrial samples with trademark ease, Simina Grigoriu pulls out all the stops for her latest techno roller, to close out the EP in resounding fashion.

Aus Euskirchen gibt es heute geballte Techno Power von dem DJ Stefan Lehmann. Stefan brachte sich die hohe Kunst des Auflegens im Jahr 2020 bei, die seitdem seine große Liebe geworden ist. Er legte seitdem viel im privaten Rahmen auf und veröffentlicht regelmäßig Musik bei seiner eigenen Podcast-Serie, namens SL Podcast. Stefan legt sich musikalisch nicht fest, sondern probiert sich in verschiedenen Genres aus. Das heutige Set ist ein sowohl antreibendes als auch verträumtes Techno Set, das euch gut in die Kar­ne­vals­ses­si­on katapultieren wird. TKR label chief Torsten Kanzler teams up with fellow Techno head Robert Egenolf in a triple portion of techno ready for club play, with Dok&Martin and Bjoern Torwellen on the remixes.

Opening up with the trippy journey into SCYTH, the intensity builds up while the rhythm stays locked, dragging the listener closer to euphoria as the track soars with arpeggiated strings. It’s heavy-hitting Techno at its finest, a trait that Dok & Martin garner on the remix. The duo reframe SCYTH into a haunting composition, with ominous bass rumbles and murky loops that intertwine harmoniously, while keeping a steady hypnotic rhythm throughout the track. 
Title track Void Trip shows a special emphasis on melody, while still having a straightforward impact with its rolling bass and absorbing rhythm sections. Diving into dark and cavernous realms, Bjoern Torwellen morphs the track into an equally dynamic, tunnel groove-ridden alternative.Just as adventurous as the previous tracks, it brings a bold mood to an EP full of late night dungeon grooves.

KKU021 - Torsten Kanzler & Robert Egenolf - SCYTH (Original Mix)

Hailing from Amsterdam, making his debut on 100% Pure is LAAT with his Fight The Real EP. Two corkers that have been a staple in 2000 and One’s sets for the last couple of weeks…albeit in livestreams.

On the A-side we find namesake Fight The Real, a vocal techno stomper with raw, brooding vocals that resonate in these quarantine times now more than ever. Combing this with meticulously programmed synth lines and a no holds barred breakdown, this one got all the ingredients to deliver the goods. On the flip side we find Vortexchaser. An epic journey through melancholic synths and pulsating stabs, combined with a thunderous low end, transporting you straight into sci-fi territory.

Both tracks receive 100% Pure’s seal of approval and are definitely not to be missed for all techno connoisseurs.
