Like the short lyrics' meaning "love has no hurry", music makes contrasts on rhythms and textures even inside each part: Main theme starts with fast drums on slow melodies & has a DANCEABLE? 2nd part with lead bass guitar; Central theme makes fast tracks become slow to the left channel and vice-versa, progressing to a POST-ROCK? atmosphere. Meanwhile, two lead guitars and echoing voices complete the contrasting piece. I hope to get your feedback !!!

This song began one morning while I was "noodling" on the guitar, key of G, 5th fret capo using D shapes, (for the guitarists out there:), and thought it the beginning of a promising recipe for a song; but it sounded a little thin.  It needed some extra seasoning and a little protein, so I sent it to Debra Buesking for her culinary expertise and she supplied all the lovely touches it needed.  It's now ready to serve, our version of "Noodle Soup". Enjoy:)

How long he stayed, he could not tell.
He worked ferociously, sounding all
existence that had touched upon him into
being: the smell of meadows, the curl of
ripples, the calm that centers in a storm;
the timbre of voices, the straight lines of buildings,
the aloofness of announcers on the radio.
His desk was cluttered, his mind strove clear.

When he did not write, he‘d read up on
the origins of his ancient art: Vergil and Dante,
Marlow and Shakespeare, Homer and Joyce,
Ovidus, Cervantes, Rabelais and Wieland.
He felt the linguistic seeds, blown from foreign
stems, grow filaments deep in his native soil, he
saw them ripen, flower profusely, yielding
their beauty to ever-changing mentalities.

And as his insight widened and he gained
perspective, the rows of encyclopedias
and dictionaries that lined his shelves
slimmed down, as he gave up consulting
English for French and German, these for
Latin and Greek, those for Persian and Sanskrit,
until he only referred to Indo-European roots.
His desk turned clear, his mind became uncluttered.

Eventually, he also slept and dreamt
whenever the veil sank upon him.
Guarded by the spire‘s safe walls, he would
awaken slowly, remembering outlandish
lore, scribbling notes and poems of bizarre
truthfulness and penning recollections of his
archetypal ties. Some of his realistic verse de-
rived from fragments of prolonged poetic trance.

His muse meanwhile taught him to cook, the
art of mixing individual ingredients to bring about
a taste all of its own that nourishes both mind and
physicality. The painters tend to fixate on surface
and colour, she said, the musicians on timing
the process, whereas the poets never get anything
done, enchanted by words like ‚ginger‘ or ‚yeast‘.
All of their dishes taste awful.

MIRAGE 2

This collaboration came about when I was commenting on a track from @cosmic-ratzzz, saying how I was very inspired and influenced by his incredible music and style - both solo, and the over 100 (!) songs he & @Joerxworx have worked on together. Then suddenly, Ratzzz offered to send me a track he created - a complete backing arrangement (bass, drums, clav, synth, keys, some sax, effects, etc.) - and suggested I add something to it. I was apprehensive cause his stuff is top notch quality, but I took a stab at it, and this is what came out. My part is the 2 lead horns - sax & muted trumpet (both played on keyboard), and Ratzzz did everything else. 

The title comes from the fact that Ratzzz made it so easy to work with because of his incredible talent and a fully baked track to solo over. I tried to leave some space and work around what he was doing and I think it turned out quite nice for a first try.
The image is a bit of a mashup I did of both our SC avatars.

In the mood for something easy, clear-cut, and straightforward? Look elsewhere. EarthShine is a dark, experimental and slightly dissonant piece; clearly not intended for the charts, and with a rather unclear purpose ... (which, by the way, is entirely to the liking of the composer, with his evidently rather odd taste).

Initially concieved as a PRELUDE to the two-part instrumental published earlier (https://soundcloud.com/davidjsvensson/long-instrumental-part1draft-ds2015), taking one of the main themes into another iteration, in new directions.

The main theme, the slightly dissonant opening theme (based on a Gminor chord over the bass note H, followed by a Hminor chord), gets evolved into the more harmonical organ/synth sequence appearing multiple times in the final, thus ending this piece (and the entire suite) on a more positive note.

The rather odd music was partly inspired by ideas and discussions in 'Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies' (www.nickbostrom.com, Oxford University); a remarkable work apparently taken very seriously by e.g., B. Gates, and respected scientists such as M. Tegmark, S. Hawkings, and M. Rees.

"Artificial intelligence already outperforms human intelligence in many domains" [p.11]. Still, the idea of an intelligence explosion occuring in our life time is to many laughable, and, clearly, it is unknown if it can occur at all; we only know that Nature once rigged materia in such as way that high intelligence emerged (i.e., us) [insert your own interpretation here].

Some would argue that there are much else in the world to worry about first; but, is this a new kind of Manhattan Project actually coming up on the horizon, with potentially far-fetching existential consequences for Mankind?

It remains to be seen if it was correct to end the music with some hope.
