My set from the best fest in the west... The Sunset Campout!!! Held in Belden (up in Northern California along the gorgeous Feather River about 4 hours from SF), it's a truly magical event featuring expertly curated music and art, a cast of just over 1200 creative, friendly music heads, and a gorgeous, river forest landscape that is unparalleled!! There is no place like it on Earth...

2024 was the 30th anniversary of Sunset, and I knew it would be special. I'm still honored that Solar and Galen handed me the reins for what I was affectionately calling "the after party" - Opening the final few hours of the festival on the beach stage (Sunday night from midnight to 1:30am). I've played the campout a half dozen times since they started doing them in Belden (16 years ago???), but this was my first time playing at night on this stage on Sunday so I picked out some of my faves from recent times, as well as a few "Cole Classics" (as a friend described them to me), and aimed to offer a "thank you" to the festival and the ones who put it all together. It's a dancer, moving around from a gospel funk start to a psyche rock ending, featuring artists like Moodymann, Cornelius, Pezzner, Jex Opolis, Flying Mojito Brothers, a few of my new edits and an unreleased Cole Odin original.

Cole Odin - DJ set from Sunset Campout 2024 (Sun - Midnight - 1:30am)

In the early days of the emergence of the infamous CoronaVirus, it felt like the world was coming apart at its seams with all the chaos caused by it, as well as the social justice issues, election fears, and being forced to find a new place to live with minimal warning. Around this time, Jenö of the Wicked Crew asked me to do a mix for his Noise From The Void show. I decided to put all of my complicated emotions into the mix and make a dark opus on the state of the world. I toiled away, pulled no punches, and allowed the mix to take whatever shape it wanted. The mix took me 8 months (!) to complete and ended up clocking in at just over 6.5 hours. We decided to split the mix into two parts and air it on two shows rather than play the whole thing in one piece due to the hefty length. Part one finally dropped around Halloween of 2020, so I added a few special touches to the final edit.

After many eons passed, I thought it was time to release the mix into the wild in its original and intended form. I hope you enjoy this strange auditory tale of madness about Life In The Time Of CoronaVoid.
