The Chain

I wrote this after a pretty challenging life experience in 2013. This is the story... BUT as always, interpret it in whatever way is meaningful to your life.

"It's okay" I said to myself 
It's been a day, and not any more 
And so I prayed and closed my eyes 
Laying down on the bathroom floor

What will he say as I reach for the phone
Tears stray down my pink rosy cheeks 
Colors fade and it's starts to sink in 
I'm not ready, no not today. 

What scares me most about what happens next
Is when to call or send that text
and I know that you need to know 
But so many things make me nervous 

"I don't want this" I instantly say 
"I'm too young and you're 24
We've got our whole lives ahead of us 
and I'm gonna change the world one day"

"Okay" You hesitate and tell her 
as she slams the door
we are alone with each other now
oh god, what have we done? 

What scares me most about what happens next
Is who will forgive and who will forget
I'll only remember 
All of the tears that I had shed 

And all those nights I cried 
with no one by my side
have made me strong
and ready to take this on 
and all I have left to say is..... 

What scares me most about what happens next 
Is why no one will acknowledge this 
We live in a world of silence 
And I KNOW I am not alone in living with this. 

So, what I wish for most to happen next, 
is lets share our stories and talk about this...

My first ever song, written and completed this summer at camp. (excuse my horrible cold)
