Q1. How and where was the mix recorded? Could you tell us about the idea behind the mix?
This mix was recorded in our studio in Melbourne. Our idea was to strengthen the connection we have formed with the Japanese scene in the past few years by choosing music exclusively from Japanese and Australian artists. We also included a few unreleased tracks from Butter Sessions that feature both Australian and Japanese artists. It kind of captures how we might DJ in a longer set but condensed to just over an hour. Jumping up from more ambient sounds to house and then techno and then winding it down again.

Q1. 今回のミックスはどこでどのように収録しましたか？今回のミックスを作りあげる上でのアイデアがあれば教えてください
レコーディングは僕たちのメルボルンのスタジオで行ったよ。このミックスを通して、この数年間に日本のシーンと築いたつながりや体験を強めたいと考えていて、そのために日本とオーストラリアのアーティストの音楽だけを選んだんだ。Butter Sessionsからまだリリースされていないトラックの中から、この二国のアーティストが作ったものもいくつか入ってる。僕らがロングセットでやることを1時間ちょっとに圧縮したようなミックスになってるよ。アンビエントからハウスに、ハウスからテクノに盛り上がってまた戻っていくような、そんな感じだよ。

Bright Patterns is a show about following an internal absolute while navigating endless options. It’s a belief in building trust around your own instincts to always lead you in the right direction. The monthly program is curated by Vicki Siolos and the occasional guest, and leans on ambient, experimental, and downtempo electronic music to kick off an early morning on The Lot. The principles can apply to any genre at any time, and Siolos draws from her role as an interaction designer to influence her selections and holistic narrative.
