Instruments recorded practically ghetto style in a far cry from ideal studio conditions with a mic that blew halfway and headphones that only sounded through the right ear. Vocals took all of ten minutes. We had such a blast though. Presenting, the Ohana Trio.

This a teaser of an original song that I co-wrote with Yuri Kageyama, Journalist/Poet  and Hiroshi Tokieda, Composer/Arranger. It is based on a poem about forbidden love (as with Romeo and Juliet) written by Yuri Kageyama.  For me, this is about love that is true but is hard because of society or family or whatever reason. It could be love between two people of the same sex or love between two people of different races. But love that is strong will overcome any obstacle and remain.

Fluorescent Vibes (Future Bass - Neo Soul Sample Pack)

This arrangement of one of the great jazz standards is irreverent and highly contemporary, with intense modal reharmonization and driving rhythm section accompaniment.  The melody is sung wordlessly first, then the lyric enters, followed by a solo section, then a complete reworking of the first part of the melody leading into a D.S. and a drum solo over a vamping end.
