When I would make beats, I would send or play it for the homies. They would either jump for joy or wonder the F*(% I was thinking.   Later on down the line those same beats would be in my head for months on end. It got to the point When I finally said f*(% it I'll Freak 'em. Then I'd play them a half way finished song with me on the vocals, assuming  they didn't want anything to do with the track.  
"Oh you holdin' out on me?"
"Ninja, are you serious?"
It seems they need a finished product to appreciate the work in progress.  So I started remixing to show them how to do it. In that process I think I came up with a nice collection to ride to. As for the homies, they now wonder how are they going to rhyme after professional artist.  I try to tell them those songs already have beats...whatever.
