Terence Fixmer - Depth Charged
Over the past two decades, French producer and live performer, Terence Fixmer, has continued to evolve as an artist while maintaining his influential stance in international techno culture. With his last solo album, Comedy of Menace, already five years behind us, his continuous evolution has led him to produce his most introspective album yet. With this 10-piece composition Fixmer is able to tell a story from start to finish, with powerful, deep, dark, pulsating tones that are essential to his musical approach.

Depth Charged is a complete concept as Fixmer’s track arrangement takes the audience through various emotions illustrating how there is more to darkness than the dance floor. Beginning with a slow but heavy bassline, “Ellipse” acts as a perfect introduction setting the attitude for the album. “Fleeting Beauty” brings us fluttering chords amidst a serpentine drone, while the rolling bass of “Unforeseen” sends you into a trancelike state. “Purity” distracts the listener with its raw analog warmth filled with extraterrestrial energy. “Inside of Me,” exclusively selected by Marcel Dettmann for his Fabric 77 mix, followed by “Outside of Me” are both very dark tracks, filled with atmospheric suspense and quaking rhythms. “Beyond” is a pure exemplary of Fixmer’s signature style with an infectious progression sending anyone to the dance floor as “Pallid Light” follows its footsteps filling a bit more radiance into a modern techno sound. “Thoughts” shows another emotion of the album with deeper dub-like sonorities leading to the final track.

Concluding the odyssey is “Elevation,” the most melodic track of the album, beautifully deep, undulating and atmospheric, it is a breath of fresh air that brings one back to reality. Fixmer’s productions have drawn the attention to stimulate individuals in other artistic mediums, as the track was an exclusive selection of Raf Simons to showcase his works for Dior at the CFDA-Awards. Raf has been a very big supporter of Fixmer’s work since his first album in 2001, Muscle Machine.

Passionate of profound mystifying tones that rise and fall, Depth Charged is the epitome of unique expressiveness for Terence Fixmer. With darkness as a companion, each track has come from deep inside the soul; uncompromised soundscapes that promote taking risks.

Raffaele cultivated his passion for Techno from an early age; he began playing with the name Raftek in the club of his town. In 2008 founded "ATProject" with the partnership of Giulio Cini and played in the most important with the best artists of the international techno scene. In 2009 he becomes a Sound Engineer.

In 2014, after a postproduction in his study began in 2012, realized in collaboration with director Ermanno Bonazzi, an independent film called "The Underdog." He is the film sound designer, director of dubbing and produces 2 electronic songs featured in the film.

Raftek has collaborated with many great artists like C-System, Diarmaid O’Meara, Carara and Dj Saimon, in which became the owners, in 2014, to a record label called Kevòd Audio.

In his career he has released 3 albums and many of his track have been played by many Djs like Dave Clarke,Dj Rush, Tobias Luke, Dave the Drummer. In 2014, he founded a cultural association in his city called Techno Culturae, organizes many events with the best international guests, each of them having a lot of success and popularity during the years.

Daniel Reinhold, is a German DJ with over 20 years of experience, a producer, and a vinyl label owner, also known as Subject One when he dons his producer and live hat. He runs one of the most acclaimed German vinyl label of recent years, Suspected Music, where some pretty big and respected names in Techno have so far released their work. He worked as a vinyl distributor for the past 15 years, and finally, in 2015, he decided to create his own vinyl label Suspected, to be able to push forward his taste and vision of Techno to the World. He also runs a vinyl pressing service.

Orlando Voorn is one of the first Dutch musicians to establish a vital connection between Detroit and Amsterdam in the early 90’s. He has long been recognized as one of the Netherland’s most original and ingenious producers in the world of electronic dance music. Voorn began DJing at the early age of 12 years old and later went on to win the Dutch DMC DJ Championship 1986. Surprisingly Voorn placed 1st in the Dutch competitions 1986 & 1987 for Holland which placed him in the world championships of DMC twice in the United Kingdom where he came in 3rd place 86 and 5th place 87 spinning with his own characteristic blend of hip hop, and electro music'.

Subsequently Voorn made a name for himself under the alias "Frequency" with a classic label known as Lower East Side Records with titles such as "Where is Your Evidence” “Kiss the Sky” and “Industrial Metal”. As a result of these tracks Voorn was introduced to Juan Atkins and they later started to collaborate & produce tracks together at Voorn's home studio where he remixed “Industrial Metal’ while Juan tweaked the sounds to make them come out of the speakers a little more pulsating. Atkins & Voorn worked extraordinarily well together and Juan taught Orlando how to merge the sounds as well as how to change the standards of conventional productions.

Soon after they would join forces and produce the well know track called "Game One" which became a classic record on Atkin’s label “Metroplex” and later it reprised on Voorn’s imprint “Nightvision” double CD Compilation 1996. In that same time span Voorn had met Blake Baxter and collaborated for the infamous ESP Records and under the alias "The Ghetto Brothers" they made 2 EP's with timeless classics as "Ghetto Disco" and" Ghetto Blues".

Voorn also did recordings for a legendary Detroit label “KMS” an imprint of Kevin Saunderson using yet another alias known as "Fix" where he created a dance floor destroyer track called "Flash" which remains in many DJ's crates at this moment. “Flash” became a hit in the Detroit clubs first before the record had broken out internationally. Voorn has a well know history of working with Detroits originator’s including Derrick May's imprint “Fragile” under yet another alias “Complex” entitled “Midi Merge”. Still going strong now, Voorn is still raising the bar with productions & Remixes.
