Groove Mix 015 - Kaidun

Acid tinged heavy hitters and spacey electro beaming straight in from Leeds based DJ and producer, Kaidun. 

Kaidun is the co-founder of Leeds club night ‘Chorus’ and since lockdown lifted you can catch him playing in clubs such as Sheaf St, Wire & Distrikt. He also has a fair few productions coming out later on this year so keep your eyes peeled.

“I have had so many fun memories at High Hoops nights, so for this mix I tried to play some of the kind of tracks I’d expect to hear at one & to transport myself to about 4am at TWH. There’s lots of spacey house, some electro & I had to finish off with a bit of cheesy trance. Hope you enjoy!”

This edition of clangers is a live recording from 2:30-3:30 at Sheaf St’s new in-house night, This Way Up. The wonderful Mafalda and Ruubos were the other 2 DJ’s playing before me, and Mafalda joined me to play some tunes after her set in the second half of this recording which was a treat.

Kaidun returns with his new 2-track EP, '5 Stars in the Tokyo Dome', blending cosmic atmospheres with big, bad-boy drums and hypnotic basslines. The title track is an explosive journey inspired by the climactic moments on the dancefloor that seem to take off into space before crashing back down again - ethereal melodies and pads with a weighty low end. 'Dugpa' features punchy breaks and a prominent rolling bass hook, as pads and acid synths swirl and spiral.

Our 53rd edition comes from an emerging talent on the scene, George Harper. We have a feeling you'll be hearing a lot from George over the next few years, as his vast, diverse, genre-spanning knowledge at such a young age is a sure sign of things to come. This is made abundantly clear in his contribution to the series, which is one of our favourite mixes to date! 

George has recently founded Chorus with his fellow techno-enthusiast Ben Moulson. Their debut event will take place this Friday down at Wharf Chambers, where they'll be joined by some of the most exciting talents in the UK right now, Stevie Cox & Yant.
