Ancient Signature [Album Clip]

On June 10th, Los Angeles hip hop group The Kleenrz (Self Jupiter of Freestyle Fellowship and Kenny Segal of TeamSupreme) are back with their sophomore release Season Two. The Kleenrzs have put together another record that falls in the dark film noir setting of their debut, constructed with an uncompromising lens over Los Angeles culture. The Kleenrz will release Season Two on vinyl and digital formats June 10th with The Order Label and there’s a lot in store. Season Two picks up right where their debut ended, splashing fresh paint on the canvas and heating things up through raw lyricism and organic production. 12 new episodes full of blood, mystery, and mayhem, served with the freshest of hip hop styles you can find from this era.

Described by The Kleenrz themselves, “Season Two is left coast, Southern, dark, messy, beautiful, inventive, cool, fun and frothy. However, as always with our music, there’s always nuggets of truths wrapped in with horror that reflects what we see and hear everyday.” The lyrical storylines on Season Two were solely written under the guise of Self Jupiter. Kenny Segal lays down creatively disturbing sample interludes, dynamic multi-instrumentalism and head nodding snare and kick drum. It’s all formulated under a lush scheme of cohesion between the two that touches every corner of hip hop and builds on the creative luminance of their first venture.

Features on Season Two bring together many roots of LA music culture, including Busdriver, Myka 9, Penthouse Penthouse, Del Tha Funky Homosapien, D-Styles, Sach, Abstract Rude, AWOL One, Grouch, and Eligh. Myka9 is known throughout the world as a founding member of the legendary LA hip hop group Freestyle Fellowship. 

Myka9 is no stranger to the recording process. 

Having pioneered the LA underground HipHop sound of the early nineties with his group Freestyle Fellowship, Myka9 is a legend in his own right. 

He has performed in front of crowds of over 30,000 admiring fans along side the likes of KRS-ONE, Talib Kweli, Super Nat, Del the Funky Homosapien, and of course his Coup de Tat cohorts Acey Alone, and Ab Rude. 
The latter whom appears as a featured emcee on the Citrus Sessions as well as P.E.A.C.E. . 

California has long been home for some of the finest talent in music. Continuing this tradition is L.A.'s own Myka Nyne (Michael Troy) the founding member of legendary group FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIP.

Here's some information on the new release by Myka Nyne, "The Citrus Sessions Vol. 1": This album will have 22-23 tracks, including some tracks from the "Citrus Sessions" EP. 

The album expands far beyond the concepts started on the EP with solid production and guests including P.E.A.C.E., Kits, Abstract Rude and many more. Featuring the live, unrehearsed performance by Myka Nyne and The Citrus Sessions Band (Josef Leimberg, Spider Fingers, Dale Hauskins, Mike Meeker...) + the freestyle session w/ P.E.A.C.E., Kits and others + Extra rare studio and behind the scene footage taken during the creation of the Citrus Sessions Project (yes, more freestyles and guests), will be included with the CD. 

Myka 9 is known throughout the world as a founding member of the legendary LA hip hop group Freestyle Fellowship.

Originally known as Microphone Mike, in the 80s he was a member of the MC Aces with Aceyalone and Spoon Iodine. As one of the founding members of Freestyle Fellowship, Myka 9 was instrumental in the scene at the Good Life Cafe in the early 90s. (Timetable contains some of his live recordings from the Good Life Cafe open-mic.) As one of the most stylistically advanced rappers at the Good Life, Myka 9 has had a profound influence on L.A. underground hip hop and freestyle rapping in general. Discussing the influence of Myka 9's song "7th Seal," released in 1991 on Freestyle Fellowship's To Whom It May Concern, Ellay Khule said, " '7th Seal' blew everybody's mind for at least 2 years straight. People studied that shit backwards and forwards -- even we don't know all those words. That made everybody say like 'I gotta get a tape out' or 'I can't rap like so-and-so no more. I can't be in 80s, now we movin' to the 90s.' That totally transferred our musical thought." Drummer and producer JMD said, "Mike was like the Charlie Parker of all these motherfuckers."

He is known for rapid-fire, jazz-influenced, melodic rapping, often incorporating singing and occasionally scatting into his songs. Myka has said of his style, “My rhymes take the direction of a jazz trumpet or sax solo, like Miles or Trane, if I was to rhyme in the same meter as those notes . . . that’s my concept.”

Kaigen is a rapper and producer from Tokyo, Japan. From his early work with the Melbourne based experimental collective Curse ov Dialect to his current work as a solo artist, Kaigen has made a name for himself with his distinctive rapidfire flow and his ear for beats that combine the lush experimentation of the late 90s underground with drums that hit hard and give no quarter.

Kaigen's collaboration with Honolulu emcee Meiso, Kaigen21Meiso, set the stage for Kaigen's fully developed sound, establishing him as a true artist of the form, able to manipulate the listener's emotions with or without their linguistic comprehension. When Meiso later translated the lyrics to Kaigen's solo album Re: bloomer, the underground learned that depths of poetic imagery and political reality lay behind his style.
