This mix pulls exclusively from the Cenobite label circa 1996-1998. This label has a rather unique approach to their Hardcore Gabber style, incorporating filtered, squelching melodies that push it closer to the Acidcore side. This style is commonly referred to online as "Trancecore" or "Cenobite Sound." This set was performed live @ Dark Denim DTLA Rooftop Party on December 17, 2022.

Los Angeles Rooftop Party🪐

Performed live @ Lost World 3.3.23 in San Bernardino. Towards the late 90's, the Hard House genre in America had formed two scenes in Chicago and Los Angeles. This genre is characterized by a heavy 4/4 stomping kickdrum, dry, siren-like lead, and extremely repetitive and minimal structure. Belgium was the first to attempt to bring this genre to Europe, which directly lead to the creation of Jumpstyle. This style brought a further emphasis on structure and melody over groove and texture - incorporating build ups and drops, a faster tempo, striking rave stabs, and adding further emphasis on 4/4 percussion atop the kickdrums. Soon after, Dutch producers also began to release Hard House, Newstyle Gabber, and Jump with strong influence from the US Hard House scenes. Although Jumpstyle became more popular in the 2000's, this mix was created to illustrate this history. All tracks are from 1999 or prior.
