Kai Killick is a one man band. In fact, he's also probably writing this press release in the third person. Growing up in the ragged hills of Bala, North Wales, Kai found music as soon as he could crawl after stumbling upon a draw of his dad's old Stones LP's. Too scratched to play, he became obsessed with the few songs that still worked, figured out how to play Not Fade Away on the guitar, then took it from there. Fast forward into adulthood, Killick is now a prolific songwriter enjoying the first few seeds of success, having had his work played by Adam Walton on BBC Radio Wales and recently receiving his first ever £1.52 royalty from being played as "Background Music On Cruise Ships". Slightly perplexed at this unexpected stream of unlikely revenue, Killick concedes that it was the tastiest Pot Noodle he has ever bought. Focusing on a selection of songs from the hundreds he's written, Kai is currently recording his debut LP for release at the end of the year and is playing sporadic acoustic gigs in the build-up. His style is best described as illegally catchy, magic melodies married to the human condition, howled from a raw and unique voice, and pinned down with sledgehammer rhythms. A creator of the three minute pop song and the six minute universe, Killick aspires to reach the heights set by Dylan, Young, Lennon, Cohen, Waits, Barrett, Cooke, Beefheart, Bacharach, Wilson, Orbison and all in-between in his own unique way. "The only thing that matters is great art. If it's real, then it can't possibly be judged". And if the Saga Cruise grannies dig him, then he's bound to be good!
