Starting off the new season with Kaisei, an homonymous semblance of liminal spaces and gliding realms is the explanation of what Kaisei's arcing narrative is all about. Sydney based and fast rising producer will come with his first EP on K.O.P. 32 Beyond The Bridge label. And just released his own Alkaanet platform.   

I'm very pleased that they participated and will he be the one to guide us through his musical fascinations

We're excited to present the very first Hybrida Mix – a series of live recordings from artists who have graced our festival stages in the past. Kicking things off is Lithuanian producer and DJ, Tadan, who delivered one of the final sets of Hybrida Fest 2024, at which point we were all ready to loose ourselves in the music and go deep.

It’s trippy, deep, rhythmic, and fully immersive. Enjoy!

Welcoming Marco Maldarella to the series, the Bologna-based artist whose multidimensional work spans a solo album on Omen Wapta, collaborations with Christian Duka as MARMO, and visual projects for collectives such as Oakland's Endzeit, all close to our heart and tied together by Marco's creative thread. It was a pleasure finally meeting Marco and witnessing his blistering Scene 3 closing at last year's Positive Education Festival, and an honor to share this eagerly awaited episode. Enter the submerged echo of a long remembered dream, fall into the mirage of a mirror image within the mind. Thanks Marco!

This contribution is a very special one, as it marks a new chapter in The Observatory’s sound… 

We will always be a home for ambient and experimental sounds. But, moving forward, we will also be exploring our love for dance music, with a particular focus on the deep end.

To begin this new journey and warm things up, we are so happy to welcome back Timnah, who gifts us with a two-hour recording of her set at Omen Wapta, ADE’24. A mind-bending traversal through ambient, drone, and halftime experiments, exploring the liminal spaces between the listening room and the dance floor.

Timnah lives, works and feeds the cats in the Northwestern extremities of Switzerland. Brought up in her parents’ jazz clubs and deeply influenced by her brother’s love for dub and soundsystem culture, she started DJing just after the massively feared Millenium Bug had threatened to offset our relation to time and space. Dedicated to drawing her own map of late 20th century sonic landscapes, she spent the early 2000s exploring 90s electronics including breakbeat, triphop, ambient techno, drum&bass, house and jungle. After a short but sweet excursion into producing in the early 2010s, Timnah dedicated herself fully to spinning the wheels and transversing genres, gravitating towards her current signature sound that spans immersive sound baths and intergalactic carpet rides in half-time. Timnah is a member of Amenthia Recordings and a recent addition to the A Walking Contradiction Collective.

Welcome to the underground of the Portuguese underground. Not necessarily the oldest members, but at least among the most active and the most honest, because WTVR and 451F are the kind of artists who are involved, not to say committed, in their artistic approach and in all their cultural activism. Whether it's a career as a “pyromaniac” visual artist or one made up of encounters and accidents, these two producers certainly share a desire to defy the boundaries between genres, both thirsting for sonic experimentation.

So, is it still footwork? Is it still jungle? Or halftime? Or breakcore? Not really... and a bit of all that at the same time. And that's what makes this production so interesting. So, let's experiment!
