Mixing traditional Nigerian Fuji music with deep sub bass, "Oluko" gives you the first taste of my upcoming Mystery Trip Vol.II mixtape - dropping July 10th on Bastard Jazz Records. This project is all about going back to my roots: pulling out obscure vinyl from my global collection, then lovingly chopping, remixing and editing them into new tracks with a contemporary edge and classic Captain Planet touch. All 9 edits have been blended, along with other audio samples and field recordings, into a 45min mix, which will be printed to cassette tapes like my earliest mixes from the late 90's. Similar to Mystery Trip Vol.I, which was listed in Sasha Frere-Jones "Best Music Of 2012", Vol.II leads you on a psychedelic journey to destinations around the world, where you are drawn out of your sonic comfort zone via a soundtrack that bridges styles of music from Asia and Africa to South America, The Caribbean and beyond.

The title says it all about the latest release on Budabeats Records: The Southern Hemisphere EP features 4 tracks inspired by the immensely rich and diverse musical tradition that South America and Africa offers. Beginning with a slick edit of Letta Mbulu’s now-classic tune ‘Nomalizo’, London based producer Petko Turned respectfully reconstructed the track, focusing on the elements that work best on the dancefloor. In ‘Pontos das Caboclas’, BéTé (a.k.a. Suhov) created a laid back yet driving atmosphere, using the main patterns and the beautiful vocals of the original song as written by Camila Costa. In his remix, Chillum Trio added his trademark sound to the Ebo Taylor classic ‘Odofo Nyi Akyiri Biara’, the result is a slow-burning, bass-heavy house number taking the original to a completely new level. Closing the EP is the Birdhouse collective’s original composition, ‘Berimbao’, a catchy contemporary cumbia tune that any combo in Bogota could be proud of. All titles have been licensed carefully, it makes us beyond proud to be able to say that the Southern Hemisphere EP has the full support of the original artists.

Benga Belt Vol. 1 album is a clear attempt at unifying the pop sounds of Kenya, rooted in the cultural heritage of benga music and drawing creative inspiration from the Benga Belt of Kenya (from Kisumu in Western Kenya to 
Kilifi in South East of Kenya). TUONGEE WAKENYA references the extremely nuanced cross generational and inter-tribal conversations brought forth by the original compositions of Boaz, Jagingo, Missing Rotich, Msupa S, John ‘Kakee', Musyoki Mutua and the Abakisimba Troupe. The album is grounded by the prowess of Udulele John and Michael Ongaro on the guitars while Oduor Bernard Kidum holds 
down the drums.

Deux ans après leur rencontre, Mawimbi révèle enfin sa collaboration avec Ghetto Kumbé (ZZK Records), trio mêlant les rythmes afro-colombiens à l’électronique ! « El Caribe » est la seconde composition originale signée des mains du collectif Mawimbi, ainsi que le premier extrait issu de leur premier album, dont la sortie est prévue pour le début de l’année 2021.

Irradiant les scènes européennes de leur énergie irrésistible au cours d’une tournée durant l’été 2018, le trio colombien Ghetto Kumbé établit alors son camp de base à Paris. A l’initiative de leur manager Olivier Maligorne, une rencontre est organisée avec le collectif Mawimbi. Une session studio s’en suit aux côtés de Clément Vincent (Pouvoir Magique), avec l’objectif de
laisser libre cours à leur passion commune pour la fusion afro-électronique. Mawimbi et Ghetto Kumbé se croisent à nouveau à l’occasion de plusieurs concerts et festivals, avant de retourner en studio un an plus tard, afin d’enregistrer de nouvelles idées et de donner au morceau sa forme finale.
Le résultat de ces sessions en studio est un vrai hit « crossover », qui pourrait bien ravir le cœur des amateurs de disques tropicaux, autant que celui du grand public. Puisant dans le dancehall et la cumbia, « El Caribe » est un hommage brûlant aux rythmes afros de la côte caribéenne colombienne. De mélodies vocales entêtantes en mariages de percussions
épicées, « El Caribe » alterne entre douce nostalgie et allégresse pure, évoquant une enfance passée aux bords des caraïbes qui ne les quittera jamais.

They regular tour the UK and are making forays into fusing traditional rhythms with digital beats and basslines from Western dance culture
