In a completely different way than anything I had written before, this song simply came to me in a dark night. Like a little bird to its nest, it flew directly into my heart. It’s about looking inward, something we’ve all been more or less forced to do lately. Reviewing our transformation so far, sifting through what we need to keep and nurture and what we will have to discard even though it might scare us. Musically it goes back to my roots of pop and jazz, which mirrors perfectly how much it reminds me of things inside of me that I had almost forgotten about. There’s never been a time in my life when the world was so still. And oh how much we’ve needed to be still. To have no choice but to tend to our wounds, to learn from them and remember that we are dreamers at heart, full of hope and possibilities. May it soothe and uplift you.

In a village on the southern side of the Crete, by the Libyan Sea, lived an old woman with her beautiful daughter. Her name was Moon. She had blue eyes that shined like two unblemished turquoise gems; her long eyelashes curved upward. Her eyebrows hung like quarter moons when she opened her eyes. She had silky white skin like the color of snow and breathtakingly long black hair that hung over her slender shoulders. Everybody loved Moon and Moon loved life. She woke up at dawn, made tea for her mother, and prayed on the terrace, facing the sea and the beautiful calm waters. Moon had a beautiful melodic voice and she loved to sing. After her morning prayer, she sat on the terrace, facing the rising sun, as it slowly peeked out from behind the mountain, spreading its rays over the valley below, and then, second by second, slowly spread a shaft of light over the sea. She loved to gaze at the unfolding of a new day from her terrace. She praised the God and sang a harmonious tune, first in a soft voice, repeating the words, “Praise to God who created the heaven and earth.” Then as the beam of light widened over the valley, she cried and her tears washed the calm of the morning breeze. Jeronimo Karpouzakis is the keeper of golden jewel. This is his third offering for Shango Records. These four tracks can awake the spirits and left you in tears. Dio S, Luett Matten, Bliz Nochi, Salguero and El Mago are the true spirits of our strange, mysterious and sweet life!
