Twisted & hard-hitting techno from Oxygeno & Francesco Argentieri via Collective Process Vol. 4

Soma Records begins 2022 with Volume 4 of the Collective Process series that links new and upcoming artists to the global scene. Doubling up on this release with two tracks each are Spanish-based Oxygeno & Italian producer Francesco Argentieri.

Oxygeno kicks things off with the dark and brooding Abuse And Violence with its dark and driving sound setting the tone for the EP perfectly. Following it up is Arrogance that delves into deeper territory with unsettling and foreboding synths creating a devastating rhythmic structure. Newcomer Francesco Argentieri opens his Soma account with the rapid-fire Mind Control. Broken Beats and alarm-like synths fire off to great effect. Argentieri closes out the EP with Enemy Is Yourself, a clanking yet hypnotic affair, crafted with precision to destroy dance floors.

Starting out with the title track, the steamrolling rhythm section propels sinister synths and fuzzed-out riffs to the manic edge while soulful vocals become the perfect balancing contrast. &#8220;Awkward&#8221; continues in the same vein with more vocals of the haunting kind, eerie notes and a mysterious vibe throughout.<br />
&#8220;Studio 54&#8221; completely flips the script and stomps wildly, relying solely on the power of the drums and the cleverly sparse arrangement. The EP closes with &#8220;OG&#8221;, where things get more hypnotic, the snares are crackling and the basslines are grinding.</p>

Acclaimed German DJ and producer Gregor Tresher is set to unveil a remix of ADRIANNA’s most recent techno sizzler, ‘Wild Electric’ on July 5th via ADRIANNA’s imprint, Temple House Music. Gregor Tresher has cemented his place as a luminary in electronic music. Beginning his career as a DJ in Frankfurt in the '90s, he is now a global presence, performing everywhere from Berlin to Tokyo and Sydney to Los Angeles. He gained recognition with acclaimed albums under his Sniper Mode alias before breaking through with releases like ‘Still’ and ‘Neon’ in 2005. His 2008 hit ‘A Thousand Nights’ topped Beatport's Techno charts, expanding his audience significantly. Tresher's music is characterised by intricate patterns that unfold gradually, avoiding typical loops. He also incorporates vintage machines, adding a subtle, organic touch to his sound. He has remixed Depeche Mode, Laurent Garnier, Moby, and Sven Väth, among others. He has released music on labels like Drumcode, Ovum, Intacto, Moon Harbour, and Cocoon Recordings, and launched his record label, Break New Soil which celebrates its 13th anniversary this year with releases dilated for Harvey Mckay, Rico Puestel, Extrawelt, DJ Hell, and many more.

Emerging as one of the industry's most sought-after talents, London-based Tech House/Techno producer and DJ ADRIANNA boasts residencies across the globe, performing alongside the likes of Adam Beyer, Cloonee and Charlotte de Witte to name a few. ADRIANNA launched into 2023 with her Beatport Hype hit ‘Confidence’ on DJ S.K.T’s Stashed Music, with a live highlight of that year being ADRIANNA hosting her own Temple stage at Electric Garden festival. The stage featured an extensive roster of DJs such as Franky Wah, Danny Howard, and Rebuke. She is poised for upcoming music releases, a club tour, a residency starting at Egg in London in May, and festival bookings in the pipeline. Her music, blending vocals with tough, club-ready beats, has drawn comparisons to Alan Fitzpatrick, Deborah de Luca, Nina Kraviz and Carl Cox. She is sure to ensnare fans of heavy-hitting techno giants like Miss Kittin, Amelie Lens and Eli Brown. She has received support from notable publications such as The Sun, DJ Mag Spain, Mixmag, and CLASH Magazine, to name a few. In addition to her musical endeavours she boasts a lead role in the movie Bloodline, which premiered at Cannes Film Festival 2024.

The original track ‘Wild Electric’, which climbed to #5 in the Beatport charts in the weeks following its release, is a high-octane acid tech odyssey. It features pulsing, distorted rhythms, trippy synth ear candy, acid synth stabs, subtle pop vocal samples and an irresistibly booming four-on-the-floor kick. 

Gregor Tresher’s take on the track has been deftly done, paying homage to ADRIANNA’s original by retaining key elements (like the hard-hitting four-on-the-floor) while successfully infusing his lighter, more progressive focus on melody and organic timbers. The remix is subtle yet hypnotic; a refreshing reimagining of such a blistering banger. 

Gregor Tresher shared: "I really liked the vocals of the original track when I got the remix request, and thought it would be interesting to put them over an instrumental that's kinda big room/warehouse sounding, so that's what I aimed for with my remix".

The track has the funk of heavy Chicago house and the sensuous singing of Shantelle Rowe that gives it a hedonistic tweak... involving a bit of a vintage backlash here. It is what you miss with a lot of music that emotions can really be grasped."Chinatown" also produced together with D&D convinces with a symphonic impact towards the second half of the track and by doing so adding some glamour to the world of techno it deserves."Let Me In feat. Diana" has vocalist Diana sing angel like into this dark and moody track. The feeling is quite noir at times almost apocalyptic and will do great in dark clubs."Burn Slow" is a hard breathing, hard rocking beat track where everything flows together as if it was go liquid matter. The track connects nicely to also older pieces of techno so it will find its fans in many corners of the world.

The main mission of the label is to serve as a platform for promoting gifted artists on the cusp of wider recognition.

The first release consists of the first end of a two-part, eight-track selection of various artists rising in notoriety within the techno scene. Various Énervé Part I features the Berlin-based Frenchman and label founder’s debut, ‘Problème XXX’, along with tracks from promising producers Darse, ENØS and Surt, each of whom ads their unique blend of deep techno rhythms and ambient sounds to a thoughtfully curated mix.

By introducing a collection of artists at once, Affûté 001 allows a broader range of sounds to be showcased. The four different producers all drive the artistic direction hand in hand and superbly set the tone for the great journey ahead.

Out on an ultra-limited series of 12" vinyls and all digital platforms from October 4, 2019.
