The Find Presents: Jazzvolution Chapter 1

"The improvisational and experimental aesthetics of jazz are modernized through the concepts of hip hop production and sampling, where artists recontextualize old/new sounds to create an original and cohesive 'beat'. Each artist was challenged to concoct a progressive instrumental piece inspired by jazz music.

This chapter of Jazzvolution is the first in an ongoing series that will seek to explore the boundaries of hip hop and jazz fusion, as well as generate awareness and support for various charities and social development initiatives.

ALL donations go towards supporting the community outreach program "Beat Making Lab", which brings mobile production studios and educational beat making workshops to impoverished communities around the world. Beat Making Lab has already organized workshops in The Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Ethiopia, Fiji, and Panama."

Samskara is an almost universal concept across South Asia. In Indian philosophy, samskaras are mental impressions, recollections, or psychological imprints. In Hindu philosopy, samskaras are a basis for the development of karma theory. In Buddhism the Sanskrit term Saṅkhāra is used to describe 'formations'. In Pali it is referred to as Saṅkhāra.

This collection of instrumentals takes inspiration from across India and South Asia: from traditional India music to Bollywood Disco, from Luk Thung and American influenced Thai Funk. It's informed by over a decade of digging for obscure funky cuts from Malaysia to Myanmar.
