"Ya Bady" "يا بديع الحسن"
is a gem of one truly stand out project "Nada" shown on an eponymous album in 2002. Arabo-Andalusian poem from XIV century accompanied by Indian sitar and Western violin - some fine example of non-antiquarian approach to historical music, a look on the past without burden of scouting for pure distillations, or "authenticity". What historians are only getting to, after years and years of studies and arguing, Ghalia Benali conceived unmistakably by her artistic intuition: that multiculturalism wasn't invented by "new age", that live music was always "world" and interchange of ideas between East and West, India and Maghreb in the past was even far more intensive and free than at present - and thus the most natural way to deal with history is to respect its freedom to be itself and extant, not attach it to dead relics or imagined concepts. Ghalia doesn't re-collect any "golden age", nor she creates any "future world", nor pretends for the "ancient magic". She lives that medieval song here, in polyethnic Belgium of the new millennium, she tells it like a story of her own traveling experience. Her sorcery borns now - a genuine hermeneutics, an unlaboured dialogue of the cultures and ages in a sensitive and loving heart. And it feels vivid!

I was featured on the Nisia New Album,working on sicilian traditional repertoire

As answer to the traditional Sicilian Lullaby I chose this text I wrote two years ago after what became of the Arab Spring, comparing this "Revolution" to the attitude of a little girl
