As mentioned in the recording, this mix was a fun little concept thought up by Ryan of  @everydejavu_records  and myself to highlight songs/artists that influenced the creation of Deja, in addition to my development as an artist. I tried not to belabor the point, and there just isn't enough time in the world to include everyone I've experienced and studied however, the main players and motifs I feel evince themselves throughout these 20 minutes.

SALT OF THE EARTH (DEJA) DJ MIX

Charles Hamilton was one of my favorite artists as a kid, mainly because of his production skills which ALWAYS included samples.  His style was simple and amazing and I Loved it. CH has a one of the most extensive catalogs of mixtapes I've seen...like truly a ton of tapes, however "The L Word" (named after the famed tv show) is probably my favorite. "Wishbones, Horseshoes and Basketball" is truly the gem of the project and samples the classic track "No Letting Go" by Wayne Wonder.
