Claptone is a unique proposition in modern music. 'Over the last two years it has been a great pleasure to work on this album as a counterpoint to the hectic world of travelling as a DJ. To lose myself when making music, to dive into and create my very own realm of beauty. I admit it's a dreamy, a heartfelt, at times a naive and surely escapist album, but what to do if one - on the quest for his soul - develops a strong desire to go back to his roots, back to nature? Did I find myself on that journey? Rather not. But I found some beautiful moments in the green, out in the woods, out in the fields, under the moon and in the night, moments, which I want to share with you. And there is one thing I learned and now it can be told, I am and have always been a ‘Fantast’.'

The first single 'In The Night' features the vocals of Ben Duffy, which paired with Claptone’s insistent and upbeat production, makes for an exquisitely executed electronic pop gem. It marks an engaging opening snapshot for what will be a milestone in his already glittering career.

'When would I return if not in the night? What would our love look like, if not with you letting me go? Which song will you be humming when thunder and lightning are coming?'

We caught a glimpse of his ambition to produce a body of work in Claptone’s debut artist album 'Charmer' which has scored over 60million streams and counting, but it’s in 'Fantast' that Claptone really delves deeper into the art of songwriting. 

2018 will see another intense year of touring as a DJ with Claptone taking his immersive 'The Masquerade' event experience further, having built momentum over the last 18 months hosting events and stages in Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Melbourne, Barcelona and New York and at festivals like Tomorrowland, Melt Festival, Elrow at Amnesia Ibiza, Green Valley in Brazil.

Don’t be fooled by the ominous title, it’s a family affair this one! Simina Grigoriu teams up with sibling Moe Danger and life partner Paul Kalkbrenner on the Shark Island EP, with K-Paul on remix duties and a special appearance by the label’s youngest member, Paul & Simina’s daughter.

The title track sets the tone with throaty vocal chops that add mystery to its clacking percussion and devilish synth lead. The effect is an intense build up, with the tension gradually released in the second half, by the way of dreamy synth arpeggios that lighten up the overall mood.
Kalkbrenner applies a staccato feel that tilts towards a more bouncy version of the original. Giving the track new life through a novel melody, it evolves into a deeply affecting piece, as its pulsating rhythm keeps the energy at a constant high.
You might know K-Paul as the electrifying half of the 90’s dance duo Lexy & K-Paul, a trait that applies to his production style, as well as in his remixing effort for Shark Island. With a more enigmatic, hyper-gradual release technique, this particular remix unveils jarring electro synths with brooding countermelodies.
