Emerging Netherlands-based pairing Parallells will land on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels imprint for the first time next month. Gifting us an emotive offering in Ashes of Snow (The Rebirth Of The Phoenix), it acts as a tribute to their favourite Portuguese beach club, Yamba, which was tragically destroyed by a fire last year.

The brother’s spoke on what inspired them: “In May 2021 a devastating fire destroyed Yamba, one of our favourite beach clubs in Caparica (Lisbon), where we often performed. Yamba’s journey through the flames has become an inspiration to us and so we decided to compose Ashes of Snow. It represents the story of the phoenix as it finally rises from its ashes and morphs into a new form, with renewed wings taking flight towards a new adventure. On The Banks of The River is a continuation of Ashes of Snow, where love flows from Lisbon’s river to the Atlantic Ocean for a night full of emotions in Caparica.”

The title track hits a wonderful sweet spot between electronic elements and organic instrumentals. It feels raw and authentic, blending saxophone segments, electric guitar tones and a jazzy-like backbone to form a cut that feels ripe for both sunrise or sunset. On The Banks of The River comes next, manifesting as a more toughened dance music number thanks to deep bass components whilst still retaining the boys’ natural sound. Rounding off proceedings is Clive Henry, who’s remix of Ashes of Snow flies the flag for contemporary minimal. Weighty kicks reside next to delicate hats before ethereal synths are brought in, creating a romanian-inspired piece that you can’t help but dance to.

Amour Propre brings us a melodic mix of afro and organic house tracks, with “Wait for me” EP. The original of this track, which gives the title to the EP, is a nice creation between afro and organic house, and enchants with the clean sweet melodies that come out quite early and give the strong character of this piece. DSF, on remix duty for this track, introduces a distinct captivating rhythm, and goes deep into the afro spirit. As the track evolves, DSF does his magic with its harmonies becoming more intense and chords leading the way. The other remixer for this great EP is Stephane Salerno, who offers yet another interesting interpretation for this piece, on the organic side. He introduces new instruments, for a deep and atmospheric experience, and a strong beat. “Mystic Tribe”, the second track of this EP starts with a strong afro rhythm which sets the tone, but it continues with mellow piano chords and an alluring vocal. Floyd Lavine is thrilled to welcome Afro-Dutch artist Cincity to Afrikan Tales. The pair met after she invited him to play her event in Rotterdam a few years ago and she's been on his radar to release on the label since: "From the first moment we clicked, I told her when she starts to produce, she needs to send me something as I love her taste in music. I'm so happy to have the opportunity to release her EP on Afrikan Tales.

Cincity has been building momentum over summer with highlights including Awakenings, playing with Black Coffee in London and b2b with Seth Troxer at Pikes, Ibiza.

The first taste of her upcoming EP is 'Kajiji', which sees her collaborate with Torque MuziQ , B'utiza & Kiddo to create a stunning Afro fusion track that's set to soundtrack sunset and sunrise moments.

Second track Cincity collaborates with her friend Jody Vivian to deliver a stellar beautiful track 'Latey'.

A label made of three key players, Berlin’s SOLIDE recently expanded their family, welcoming fond musical acquaintances into the fold with a various artists compilation; Solid(e) State Vol 1. Resuming form, one third of the core, Kalyma, returns for another solo expedition to the club with his ‘Tanger Night Drive’ EP. Berlin-via-Gran Canaria, Kalyma’s percussive style of club music wields a certain charm. Whisking us away on a pacey drive through the Morrocan night, Kalyma rolls through the deep mysticism of Tangier in the title track; ‘Tanger Night Drive’. A pulsing kick and punky bass, meet the melodious tune of steel pan chimes and whispering crickets in the low-line. Tom rhythms and arpeggios intensify, encapsulating the racey, blissful energy of a night in Tangier. Making a complete U-turn, synth-led ‘Arlequin’ brings real rave emotion. Vibey percussion underpins the experience, whilst a distinct air of grit comes through in dubbed out, euphoric keys.
