The quantum internet is a new technology that uses the rules of quantum mechanics to build communication networks that are extremely secure and very efficient. Unlike regular networks that send data as ones and zeros, the quantum internet uses qubits – special bits that can be in many states at once, thanks to a property called superposition. Also, qubits can be “entangled,” meaning the state of one qubit is connected to the state of another, even if they are far apart. This is called quantum entanglement.
