2 years after his critically acclaimed “Ultrachroma” album, Kangding Ray returns to ARA with a decisively dance-floor LP named “ZERO”.
As the artwork suggests, his different explorations and influences converge into one point on this record, where sound becomes a raw vibration, precisely engineered to bring bodies into movement.
This record marks both a return to the source of his sound in its purest shape, with hints of his debuts on the experimental label raster-noton, as well as the hypnotic journeys he is now known for with his DJsets.
As an artist who is constantly reshaping his own sound in search of new forms, Kangding Ray offers here a singular take on modern dance music, driven by a visceral and futuristic approach.

Press Release:
Whispers of the Valley is a three-part opus, highlighting the talent of emerging and established artists alike, including a remix by Luigi Tozzi. The project came to life with a field recording sample bank gathered during a workshop at La Vallée Electrique 2022, from which we asked producers to compose a unique track using at least one sample.

As the night falls, the dancers bring the hypnotic sounds to life with their graceful and fluid movements. The flow of their bodies revealing boundless passion and creativity. The atmosphere is charged withenergy andthe experience isunique andunforgettable.

Solma draws on the hypnotic sounds of 90s trance and the tribal grooves of British breakbeat to produce psychedelic club music at the crossroads of styles.

It has been a very long way since the beginning of this piece but I am very happy to have it finally released! Through his consistency as both Live performer and DJ, and a number of critically acclaimed releases, Kangding Ray showed his ability to keep a genuine artistic approach, while slowly crafting a unique universe, equally focused on emotional response and visceral impact.

Kangding Ray’s music tests boundaries, evolving constantly in its exploration of texture and rhythms, while talking equally to the body and the mind.
From his past as architect, Kangding Ray kept a multidisciplinary approach to art, applying his craft in diverse artistic fields such as visual arts, film scores, audiovisual installations and dance performances.
