Single from the upcoming album "Edge Of Non Compliance"

Back in 2009, Italian DJ and producer Luca Mortellaro - better known simply as Lucy - established the Stroboscopic Artefacts label. And over the last 14 years, the imprint has nurtured a reputation for its line-blurring electronic abstraction and dancefloor experimentation, releasing influential material by artists like Speedy J, Kangding Ray, Donato Dozzy, Paula Temple, Rrose, Ben Klock, Wanton Witch, and of course Lucy themselves. Naturally following the label's ten year threshold, the pandemic pause and Mortellaro's subsequent artistic re-evaluation, OTHER FACTS emerges as a fresh entity, fully unplugged from Stroboscopic Artefacts' dancefloor mainframe, with its gaze pointed on widescreen cinematic sound design and audio-visual art.

To inaugurate the label comes the sophomore album from masked, anonymous artist Roots In Heaven, following their acclaimed 2017 opus "Petites Madeleines". That debut took its conceptual cues from Proust's seven-volume masterpiece "À la recherche du temps perdu", and while "Edge of Non Compliance" has no such literary focus, it's no less layered or philosophically rigorous. In fact it's the ideal vehicle to launch OTHER FACTS: an album that's rich, suggestive and delicately textured, that proposes a visual accompaniment without overstating its motivation.

Dutch duo Artefakt launch their own imprint entitled De Stijl this February, initially with their own ‘Far and Wide EP’ with follow up appearances from Rhine and Cyspe. The imprint delivers a fertile ground for further exploration of their sound, as well as providing a home to affiliated projects and close friends.

‘Far and Wide’ opens up with pitter-patter drums whilst soaring pads join scintillating synths and a medley of subtle effects. With its rumbling percussion, murky bass and tantalising melody, ‘Ghost in the Machine’ takes things into darker territories before ‘Crystal Confessions’ employs a hypnotising aesthetic built on a syncopated rhythm and heavenly chords. Finally, the electro inspired ‘Levity’ concludes matters with a meandering bassline and wistful sequences.

The tale of the mythic pentaki mountain has been engraved on a two-sided circular piece of wax.

the north face of the peak is steep, abrasive, and has been the subject of many legends in the region. it is said that whoever would manage to climb it would find a plateau, leading to a place called “the single source of truth”.

considered as the ultimate goal by both psychedelic gurus and database o
ptimization corporations, and as an ideal retirement destination for a couple of lost souls in search for coherence and objectivity, the source diffuses endless loops of haunted voices, apparently sampled from a discarded call center, running low on power, encouraging listeners to shorten cycles, deliver requests and improve user experience.

it is also said that anyone climbing from the south side would never reach the summit or find his way to the plateau, and would always end up on a lower altitude than where he started.

this topographical anomaly is probably the reason why the south face of the pentaki has always been favorited by locals, with its sunny weather and its luxurious vegetation flourishing along the soft downward slope, leading to a slow and peaceful end.

From his early releases on the legendary german imprint raster-noton, to his more recent output aimed at the club, Kangding Ray managed to trace a singular trajectory, navigating the unexplored territories between experimental music and dance music.

Through his consistency as both Live performer and DJ, and a number of critically acclaimed releases, Kangding Ray showed his ability to keep a genuine artistic approach, while slowly crafting a unique universe, equally focused on emotional response and visceral impact.

Kangding Ray’s music tests boundaries, evolving constantly in its exploration of texture and rhythms, while talking equally to the body and the mind.
From his past as architect, Kangding Ray kept a multidisciplinary approach to art, applying his craft in diverse artistic fields such as visual arts, film scores, audiovisual installations and dance performances.
