Shooting in South Sudan’s capital Friday, a day after a shootout between opposing army factions killed five soldiers. UNMISS and JMEC condemn reports of shooting in South Sudan including on UNMISS international employee.  And, South Sudan leaders to discuss ways of avoiding unnecessary shootings and to discuss the establishment of joint security operations forces around the capital.

A government committee investigating the fighting which erupted in June in Wau State released a report on August 11th, concluding that both soldiers and civilians killed during the attack were targeted on ethnic grounds. The report says some elements from South Sudan’s different forces also looted shops and committed other crimes. Tito Justin reports for VOA from Juba.
