This song was entered into 'Tamworth's' Country Music Junior 'Singer Songwriter' competition, where she was lucky enough to get into the top 5 of all entrants from Australia and New Zealand.

Kanji have only been performing together for a short time, but in this short time they have made a huge impact to each others musical abilities. Katie and Benji compliment each other in every which way. When you watch them perform you will be blown away with their powerful voices, their stage presence, their high spirited performance and their ability to sing anything from Opera to AC/DC, wowing the crowds at every opportunity. 

Katie Marie Hearne is a 17 year old female from Newborough, Victoria: 

Katie has only been singing since she was 13 years old and is a self taught guitarist, singer and songwriter. 

In 2012, at the age of 15, Katie entered the seniors section of ‘The Gippsland Country Music Awards’, due to the lack of juniors at the competition. Katie astounded the judges and won ‘Best Female Vocalist’ for 2012. 

After this, Katie went on to enter one of her original songs ‘Secret Dreams, into the Tamworth ‘Singer, Songwriter Contest’, Katie successfully finished in the top 5, receiving rave reviews in regards to her song writing abilities. 

Most recently, Katie was selected as 1 of 21 juniors from Australia and New Zealand to attend ‘The Country Music Academy of Australia’, in Tamworth for a one week workshop where she was mentored by industry greats such as Merilyn and Dave Carter from Carter and Carter and Amber Lawrence to name a few. On completion of the work shop, Katie had the opportunity to perform at Tamworth’s, ‘Capitol Theatre’, for the opening of the ‘Tamworth Country Music Festival’, once again blowing the 500 plus crowd away with another original ‘Happy’. 

Katie has performed at many venues and events across Victoria such as ‘Spirit Bar’, ‘Maddison’s’, ‘The Barham Country Music Festival’, Sale ‘Day on the Green’, Timamba’s ‘Food and Wine Festival’ and Seaspray’s ‘Music Festival’. 

Katie has released 4 CD’s to date with all of the receiving air time on ABC radio and 3TRFM to name a few. Katie is a quietly spoken, polite young lady that does not say a lot, but when she opens her mouth to sing she can shake the foundations of any venue. Her vocal range and natural talent provide her with the ability to sing anything from ‘Country Rock to Christina Augeleria’. 

Benji Schuback, 28 year old male from Churchill, Victoria:

Benji can only be described as “out there” and “sensational”. Benji is an extremely confident, talented individual who loves life and loves nothing more than to entertain. 

By day he entertains the elderly working as a ‘Lifestyle Assistant’ and by night his funny and somewhat strange antics on stage, combined with his somewhat bizarre fashion sense, win over even the toughest crowds. 

Benji kicked off his career at the age of 15 at Church, playing the piano. He went on to complete his VCE with his strengths being focused on playing Classical Piano. At age 18, he went on to study at ‘The Conservatorium of Music’ in Hobart. 

In 2014, Benji successfully reached the judges round of X-Factor, where he received 2 “YES” and 2 “No”, responses which unfortunately saw him eliminated from the competition, however Benji astounded the audience of X-Factor with a standing ovation. 

Throughout his music career, Benji, has also entertained at a variety of venues and events including many local hotels, Morning Melodies events, private function’s and most recently Tinamba’s ‘Food and Wine Festival’, for the first time alongside Katie Marie. 

Benji, is able to entertain crowds with his multi instrumental abilities and his mind blowing vocal range and like Katie enjoys singing a large variety of genres.
