Kanopy is a 35-year-old ... human.
Born in South Africa in 1979, came to Portugal at the age of 9. After pursuing his regular education, he took a 3-year course at a circus/theater school doing performing arts.

By then, the so-called curiosity for vinyl, mixing, machines and knobs had become evident. He bought his first pair of semi-professional turntables in 1998, and started to collect mostly techno.

In 2001, he started working with an improv comedy group, doing all the ambients and sound effects, as well as participating as a musical “actor”, improvising on stage. He also divides his time working as the sampler guy in TV entertainment shows.

Currently living in Lisbon, he DJ:s at various clubs and after-hour parties, and throughout the years has been shaping his abilities and tastes in music and technique. Enjoys playing a slower BPM with powerful kicks and tries to mix a variety of genres and textures
