For almost a decade @8ulentina has been constantly innovating with a distinctive, singular sound. His productions blend diasporic and non-western music within club and club-adjacent motifs, emphasizing the unique distinctions within these genres. His DJ sets have a similar effect, showcasing his talent for weaving together disparate styles, sounds, and feelings, creating singular dancefloor moments. In November, we had the pleasure of hosting 8ULENTINA at a Nina Night at Nowadays, where he displayed the range he is known and loved for. In our latest edition of Nina Mix, we present the recording of that set.

An 1hr of bass-massage worthy selections that have been bugging bela’s mind for some months.
They dive from 145 to 119 BPM on 3deck - in mutable electro, dubstep, DnB and delectable hand-drum goodies.

Originally from Paju, South Korea, bela (they/them) is a musician and a performance artist based in Berlin. They are known for electronic music performance merging pungmul - a Korean folk act rooted in agricultural traditions and linked to past social movements - and vocals inspired by extreme metal. bela shapes pungmul into the ritual for queer rage and grief with sub-heavy distortions and cries.
Since moving to Berlin in the autumn of 2022, bela has been announced as a participant of SHAPE+ Platform 23’-24’. They have presented their work across different stages in Europe including Berghain, Trauma Bar und Kino, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Cafe OTO, A4 Bratislava among many others. They have performed in experimental music festivals CTM Festival(DE), Ephemera(PL), Unsound Kraków(PL), and Rewire Festival(NL). They also participated in European art festivals transmediale(DE) and EVA International(IE). bela is a co-runner of Sorrow Club: a mixed event series spanning from music to non-music.

If you don’t already know, the Dean Blunt, Klein and Yasiin Bey (AKA Mos Def) collaborator always seems to be at the forefront of the most vital DIY scenes. A genre-agnostic producer and sound curator typically found holding it down at Venue MOT, The Glove That Fits and Ormside Projects (where he runs his quarterly club night, ÜNDERGØDS).

Weirdo tendencies in full effect, a multidisciplinary 'one-man-band' approach is adopted across most endeavours: running the UltraWaveVisions label to producing original music, soundtracking fashion shows, art house film installations and clothing design, this guy does it all. 

Safe to say he has an ear for the explorative, and making offerings of “rare, eclectic, unreleased, experimental and weird thought-provoking music”, this mix is a case in point.
