Back to the fold with the first extract taken from his upcoming debut long-player on A Tribe Called Kotori, Fabian Krooss takes us to a delicate and transporting headspace with his twofold single, "Oh Darlin'". Infused with laid-back Chicagoan rhythms and feelgood Afro soulfulness, this opening brace of cuts from the German producer weaves solar-powered sensitivity with vaporous floor dynamics to hypnotic effect. An ode to impro and the free-flowing power of gut instinct, Krooss' newest offering translates thousands of places, feelings, moments and encounters into a buoyant melting-pot of debonair grooviness. "Producing has a meditative and balancing effect on me" Krooss says, and it definitely shines through in these, as we're taken on a seamless ride up serene moodscapes and ethereal club-ready apexes.  

A track that "captures my musical vision like no other" in Krooss' own admission, "Oh Darlin'" oozes a cross-pollinating elixir of hi-NRG house and folk-informed downtempo, gracefully threading its way in limbo between proper DJ-friendly functionality and loungey hedonism. Composed earlier this year and refined over the summer, "Oh Darlin'" stacks positive energies and beams them across the room like a vital call to channel the good vibes and move in the direction of love and unity. The second track, "Staring", recorded in collaboration with Samaha during his stay in Seattle in March 2023, engineers a nice mix of both artists' distinct melodic universes, while encapsulating memories from Krooss' journey in North America. A further balmy slice of atmospheric electronica tinged with hints of dream-pop and balearic house, "Staring" cruises at its own tranquil pace across colour-shifting horizons and gently jagged reliefs, ready to soak up full sound systems with its soothing, poetic funk. Lush as it gets.

Ruede Hagelstein and Watergate go hand in hand. Not only is Ruede one of the longest running residents at the club, but he's also the man behind some of the label's most acclaimed music and the curator responsible for lucky number 13 in the illustrious Watergate mix series. With this, it seemed obvious to put Ruede up to his next task: an album. It is with great anticipation and excitement that we bring you the first LP for both, Ruede and Watergate Records, Apophenia. 

Apophenia is the experience of seeing patterns or connections in random or meaningless data, and for Ruede, this is the perfect interpretation to describe his writing process, in which ideas appear from the empty, chaotic darkness. A random chord progression or percussion arrangement opens the door to the imagination where structures appear and begin to take shape. Unlike most of his previous work, Apophenia is not strictly attached to the dance floor, but created to fit just as seamless while listening at home as it is in the club. For over a year, Ruede collected ideas and visualized his plan. It was important not to mimic his earlier work, but to focus on a certain sound. While staying minimalistic yet extremely organic and melodic he has created a timeless long player.

While the LP spans a range of emotions, it is always grounded in Ruede's unparalleled, singular sound. Pair that with some notable features from artists like PillowTalk, Hollis P. Monroe & Overnite, Justin Evans and C.A.R. and you have a plethora of dazzling music. With tracks like "Moon Rabbit", "Life Is A Beach" and "Found A Place" Ruede displays the sound of a night at the club while "Already Undone feat. Pillowtalk" and "Pareidolia" take rides through the deeper, emotional spaces. In the end, "Apophenia" is the perfect display of not just Ruede's artistry, but Watergate's musical vision, which together, create an illustrious and undeniable entity.

Blondes Have More Fun (Tiga's Elevation Remix)

Beautiful piano melodies, ballads drawing their inspiration from jazz, classical music and cinematic imagery, hummed choruses, a mood at the crossroad of nostalgia and reverie, instruments with uncanny timbre and charm, chiseled percussions, added to a subtle electronic production, this is the recipe for Tout Va Bien, the second solo album by French composer Ezechiel Pailhes.

Even if he defines himself as a “jolly fellow” (which is confirmed by the music and reputation of his electro-pop duo Nôze), when chatting to him, he comes across as quite gentle and stellar, just like this collection of eleven tracks that he composed “in autarky”, entirely alone, in his Montreuil home studio.

Following the footpath of Divine, his first solo release from 2013, this album is however more intimate, marking Pailhes' taste for finely crafted moods and drifts.

Sascha Funke, einer der ganz Großen in Sachen Techno aus Deutschland, stellt mit Saschienne sein neues Projekt vor - Techno meets Pop & Indie.

Debütalbum von Sascha Funkes neuem Projekt Saschienne, das der Berliner Produzent gemeinsam mit seiner Frau, der Sängerin und Multiinstrumentalistin Julienne Dessagne, ins Leben gerufen hat. Sascha Funke ist einer der großen Techno-Autoren Deutschlands und das Genie hinter den Bestseller-Alben "Bravo" und "Mango". Saschienne ist kein kurzweiliges Band-Experiment, sondern eine feste Partnerschaft mit Horizont. Bereits die ersten Tracks bezeugen die vollständig ausformulierte Meisterschaft auf der Klaviatur der Tanz-Emotionen, stets oszillierend und irgendwo zwischen gezupfter Introspektion und kompromissloser Hymne. Seine erste Single "Campus" auf Kompakt von 1999, verschaffte dem damaligen Newcomer direkt einen glücklichen Start, hechtete er doch im Gefolge der ersten Releases von Meilenstein zu Meilenstein. Jetzt kehrt Sascha zu seinem allerersten Label zurück. Nach 13 Jahren als Techno-Produzent hat Sascha, dank Julienne, die Freude der guten, alten Zeiten im Studio wiederentdeckt. "Sie hat mir eine Tür geöffnet, die ich vorher nie gesehen habe, und hinter der sich die Begeisterung und die Freiheit verbergen, die es mir erlauben, in völlig andere Richtungen zu gehen als zuvor."
