B side, Fade, is beatless but is based around a simple but irresistible driving rhythm. Arcane takes influence more from the dance floor for this release showing progression from his debut EP 'Permanence'.

There’s an exciting new gun marching in to the town of house music; his name is Viktor Talking Machine.

Dropping his debut release on Super Flu’s burgeoning Monaberry label, the shadowy but talented young force - whose name is also seemingly based upon the ill fated Victor Talking Machine company that produced the very first gramophone record players - fuses his feudal, rural experiences of Antarctic life with an arsenal of sound and texture on his refreshing ‘Abby’ EP.

Taking a strict mantra of ‘digital is death’, Viktor brings his expressive and deep sound through a selection of analogue instruments, galvanising his off kilter, alternative dance floor tomes with soundscapes and refreshing, naturalised washes of ambience and effect. Title track Abby – with its hollowed echoes and radar blips, sets the tone in minimal, ethereal fashion before gentle, crisp percussion brings tempo and rhythm, before snapping hi hats and bubbling, pulsating bass drive the track into the heart of any given dance floor.

Sven Tasnadi brings a hyper compressed analogue remix, stripping back the percussive elements and bringing the bass timbres to the fore, while Martin Waslewski comes up trumps on his equally ethereal take on Abby, but hardened by resonating drums, staunch kicks and a more perky, house purist approach on the original. Finally, Viktor awakens his machine once more Torrfel playing with fluctuating gusts of harmonics before acidic, hypnotic top line melodies bang heads with bubbling bass and stomping swing.

Teenage Mutants & Ed One join forces and talents and devise a full-throttle four-track original release that takes no prisoners. Starting off the dive with an energy-ridden piece, 'Alive' sets in with jangling percussion and a steady groove. The narrative centers on an upbeat melody with discrete tribal nods, gradually unfolding to reveal disparate, mystery infusing synth rises. A ghostly vocal ultimately appears, aptly bringing together the initial grooveplay and the surreal atmosphere. 'Uncharted' takes on an equally cryptic note, embarking on a progressive journey filled with eerie pads and metallic loops. The producer pair manage to weave an expandingly mesmerising melody, zeroing in on the dramatic chords of the building lead synth.

On the flipside, 'The Question' emerges as the punchiest track on the release. With a rolling groove, bouncing bassline and laid back atmosphere, it makes for a perfect dancefloor warmer. Gliding pads alternate wavy synth chops, while arpeggiated synth flares provide a dark hazy undertone. A whirlwind of graveness, 'Kiko' reveals an undulating introspective synth lead, with a stripped back bassline. Equally structured and immersive, it boasts an understated balance between depth and gloom, that makes it the most functional track of the release.
