For Chapter 2 we proudly present you the London based duo Saraphim (RNS & RDubz)! The two started as a duo recently in the scene, but they already have a considerable output on labels such as Sentry Records or Locus Sound. In addition, they regularly play a radio show on Subtle!

The idea for this mix series came up when it was suddenly not possible to experience live music anymore. Our regular Sub:District nights couldn't take place, so we had to look for alternatives. I wanted to keep on playing music, push the scene and simply keep my focus on music, as for me, music did an essential part in giving me balance in this difficult time.
At first I gathered the sub:district crew and we started to stream live on YouTube, which was a great opportunity to meet up and finally listen to music on good speakers and high volume. But i also do love well prepared studio mixes and wanted to connect with artists from around the world, so the idea to start a new mix series with guest mixes came up: Sub:Tales.

The sub:tales are divided into chapters, of which each one will be framed by an intro and an outro shaped by a "guest story teller". Every guest will tell their own story which will create a surprising variety in every chapter. This variety also reflects in the musical variety of the Sub:District crew and myself: we're looking forward to be presenting mixes in the realm of Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Dub, UK Garage, Jungle, 2Step, Halftime, etc.

Sub:Tales Chapter 03 is coming straight from JahYu - one of our favorite producers & live acts!
As an Hamburg local, JahYu is not only a "neighbour" and friend, but has also been a highly valued and steady guest of the Sub:District nights throughout the years.
Apart from his rather dubby live sets living off his own productions, we're celebrating a little premiere with chapter no 3 as JahYu put together one of his really rare DJ sets - 60 min of switching tempi and all sorts of bass music and vibes. An invigorating selection celebrating the freedom and variability of music!

Don't worry - we're not putting the dub vibes on hold though! Kardia's part of Sub:Tales chapter 3 is devoted entirely to the rootical side of bass music, which will teleport you straight in front of a soundsystem on a sunny summer day.

We have arrived at the fourth chapter already! How time flies… When I started this little project, I dreamt of involving as many of my favourite DJs and Producer as possible and I am very happy to welcome Ome, one of the most interesting newcomers of the last few years to the mix. 
Since his first releases at Locus Sound the enormous impact the producer from Graz/Berlin will have in the future has been clear for everyone involved to see. His work – own productions and DJ mixes alike – Is simply pure fire. 
For the Sub:Tales, he provides us with a very well mixed, well-thought-out and varied set so be extra sure to enjoy two hours of high quality bass music by Kardia and Ome!

His productions are, as we love it, somewhere between deep rollers, atmospheric synths and driving basslines. For the Sub:Tales Mix Series, Scepticz recorded a special "Lost Dubs" mix. Filled with a lot of early and unreleased tunes. Appropriately, Kardia introduces the Mix with his usual vibey and driving Drum and Bass selection.

duaba is a german-portuguese Junglist with all her heart. With over nine years of experience behind the decks, her distinctive fingerprint is mainly affected by Oldschool Dancehall and early 90s Jungle Rave. Nevertheless her high-energetic pure Vinyl sets are an unpredictable journey ranging from Global Bass, Cumbia and Baile Funk to UK Bass (such as DnB, Dubstep and Grime), breaking the boundaries of genres and cultures. Her sound is extremely eclectic and impossible to label. But what definitely sounds out is her passion for pulsing bass lines and highly danceable rhythms.
duaba is part of the collective "Liquid Concrete", which is mainly dedicated to DnB. She has played all the main venues in Hamburg such as Golden Pudel Club, Hafenklang, Rote Flora, Gängeviertel and Waagenbau.

In this mix series, I put the complete focus on the deep & atmospheric vibes of bass music around 140 bpm. I called it "Abaton" because my girlfriend asked me to do a atmospheric dubstep mix and Abaton is the name of our favorite cinema. I know  it is a little bit random, but after i googled it, I also recognized that "Abaton" is an old greek word for "inaccessible". In the old greek mythologie Abaton is a 
unreachable place for the most human beings. 
I think that fits very well with the dark atmospheric vibes and invites you to digress and trip.

After building some  beats with the NI Maschine for a while now, I started a collab with my mate Penguin Sound. We named this Track "Magnetic Fields" and its a part of his forthcoming Bandcamp EP. Release will be the 2th of October! 
Making this Tune was a lot of fun, because we added the Maschine as VST in Ableton, so we got a nice workflow. We both jammed together with Ableton Push, Maschine and Komplete Kontrol.

Kardia & Penguin Sound - Magnetic Fields

In this mix series, I put the complete focus on the deep & atmospheric vibes of bass music around 140 bpm. I called it "Abaton" because my girlfriend asked me to do an atmospheric dubstep mix and Abaton is the name of our favorite cinema. I know it is a little bit random, but after i googled it, I also recognized that "Abaton" is an old greek word for "inaccessible". In the old greek mythologie Abaton is a
unreachable place for the most human beings.
I think that fits very well with the dark atmospheric vibes and invites you to digress and trip.

Kardia presents Sub:Tales Chapter 1: Duckem 

The idea for this mix series came up when it was suddenly not possible to experience live music anymore. Our regular Sub:District nights couldn't take place, so we had to look for alternatives. I wanted to keep on playing music, push the scene and simply keep my focus on music, as for me, music did an essential part in giving me balance in this difficult time. 
At first I gathered the sub:district crew and we started to stream live on YouTube, which was a great opportunity to meet up and finally listen to music on good speakers and high volume. But i also do love well prepared studio mixes and wanted to connect with artists from around the world, so the idea to start a new mix series with guest mixes came up: Sub:Tales. 

The sub:tales are divided into chapters, of which each one will be framed by an intro and an outro shaped by a "guest story teller". Every guest will tell their own story which will create a surprising variety in every chapter. This variety also reflects in the musical variety of the Sub:District crew and myself: we're looking forward to be presenting mixes in the realm of Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Dub, UK Garage, Jungle, 2Step, Halftime, etc. 

I'm especially excited to be starting the first chapter with one of my absolute favourite producers: @Duckem from Greece! He's been a part of the dubstep scene for a few years now and his releases on Dirty Beats Music, Locus Sound, Indigo Movement, SND SYSTM CLTR and on his own Bandcamp have continued to amaze me.
Therefore it's not surprising that his guest mix for Sub:Tales comes with a perfect combination of deep and harmonic vibes
