In "The Walkabout" I imagined what a soundscape for a traditional Australian Aboriginal's long walking journey through the wilderness, in both a physical sense and a spiritual one, might sound like. I created a nocturnal ambience for the opening with the sounds of crickets and my didgeridoo and from there the piece awakens to a musically rich journey, exploring textures that are more like landscapes. Soon little melodic phrases guide the listener to an eventual unfolding into a beautiful moment of arrival in the joining of acoustic guitar, indigenous flute, and didgeridoo.
