Rental of Skin and Bones is a song I wrote out of the desire to take my own life.  The strongest and most frequent temptation I have ever faced in my walk with Christ is suicide.  Though I will to I don't because I want to I won't.  I could end my own life but my life is not my own to take.  God is the giver and taker of life.  I have been giving a rental of skin and bones to steward for God's sake.  Suicide is the poorest form of stewardship and love.  By ending your life you completely cancel the ability to steward your life.  You also cancel the ability to love those around you.  In Mathew 25:14-30 Jesus tells a parable of three servants.  Each servant was giving a different amount of money to manage.  Two of the three servants managed the money well by increasing the money.  The master said Well done good and faithful servant, you have been faithful with handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities.  Let's celebrate together!  Then the third servant said he was afraid to lose the money, so he hid the money in the earth and gave the money back to master.  The master replied you wicked and lazy servant! You could of at least put the money in back and gotten interest on it.  Then the master ordered to take the money and give it to one of the other servants.  To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have abundance.  But for those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.  Now throw this useless servant into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.   There are eternal consequences for our sins.  Instead of dying by suicide we can die to our selfish desires like suicide.  God rewards those who diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)  If we want to follow Christ then we need to daily deny ourselves, pick up our cross, and follow Jesus. (Luke 9:23)  One day the life God gave you will be due back to him.  Will God say well done good and faithful servant or away from me you wicked and lazy servant???
