Already one of the best in the nation, Florida State’s College of Business is ready to take another step in advancing its reputation thanks to a monumental philanthropic investment.
This is Florida State Headlines, I’m Layne Herdt.

“We did it!!”
That was Dean of FSU’s College of Business Michael Hartline who is ecstatic to announce a transformative $65 million dollar philanthropic investment from Herbert Wertheim which includes financial support to endow and name the college. 
“This marks the launch of a new beginning for our college of Business and for Florida State University, and for our exciting new partnership with Doctor Herbert Wertheim….”
That’s FSU president, Richard McCullough at a special event to celebrate the naming of the college which is now known as the Herbert Wertheim College of Business. FSU cut the ribbon on the college’s new building, The Herbert Wertheim Center for Business Excellence! President McCullough says the generosity by Wertheim, donors, and the state will cultivate a world-class educational environment for business students. 
“The Herbert Wertheim Center for Business Excellence, as you can see, is a massive 218,000 square feet of absolutely magnificent space. It is the most impressive business school in the entire country.”
FSU held the official ribbon cutting at the new building and students leaders showed off the new space during guided tours.

Dean Hartline says the College of Business is now entering a new era of excellence thanks to Wertheim’s generosity.
“Your investment immediately launches our college into a new era of preeminence. We're going to make world class business education accessible to even more aspiring students. It's going to elevate our faculty and our staff with the resources needed to pursue innovative ideas and develop meaningful solutions for tomorrow. Generations from now, we are going to point back to this day, in this monumental investment as profoundly pivotal in the trajectory and impact of the Herbert Wertheim College of Business.”
As for Wertheim, humble beginnings turned into life-changing opportunity through his education. The billionaire optometrist, inventor, businessman and philanthropist knows the value of education. He says he wants to create opportunities for others to succeed whenever he can.
“It's not the finances. It's not the money. It's my heart that I give you. And education has made the difference in my life. And I wanted to make a difference in so many other people's lives.”
McCullough knows the thousands of lives that will be impacted by this gift and says he’s excited about the momentum FSU continues to build with moments like this.
“I want to end by saying that this project honors our honors, our past. It strengthens our present, and it sets a pace for our absolutely amazing future. A future that Florida State University is absolutely ready for.”

By this manner, good Lord, the truth of Thy Gospel shall be preached throughout the world. Therefore, merciful Lord, exercise Thy mercy, show it indeed upon Thy Church. Amen.
