Artist Bio

The music of Karin Åberg has been described as "bare and beautiful", with a personal expression, both powerful and fragile. It is emotionally charged and no listener is left unaffected. The songs are very dynamic with an intimate character and carefully elaborated arrangements. With her bellowing vocals and strong deep lyrics she gets to your heart. Karin has received great praise in articles and reviews. She has been rated as a rising star with great potential.

Karin has always had the music within her. During her childhood she was influenced by the music of movies and TV-shows and affection for grand and spectacular music was born. Her background playing classical piano along with writing pop music, has allowed her to create her own sound and musical expression.

Karin was raised in Älvsbyn, a small community in the north of Sweden. At 2002 she was accepted to the Department of Music and Media in Piteå at the Luleå University of Technology. For four years she studied composition, orchestration and conducting and in 2008 she was rewarded the degree of Bachelor Of Fine Arts With A Major In Music Composition. Her fith and final year she studied music production and surround sound at the Linneaus University of Växjö (Sweden).

Her background ranges from composition and music production for film, commercials, symphony orchestras, choir, contemporary music, electronic music, chamber opera, various kinds of ensembles like pop/rock-bands and big-bands.

While studying at the Department of Music and Media in Piteå, Karin started to write songs. Since 2003 Karin has performed on various locations in Sweden ranging from Piteå in the very north to Stockholm in the south. In 2007 Karin moved to the city Växjö in the south of Sweden. Along side new musicians, she has performed at festivals and venues and played live on Swedish Radio.

Karin Åberg compose and produce music for film, TV, commercials, contemporary music, electronic music, various kinds of ensembles and pop music. She also offer music specifically composed for any brand or occasion to strengthen its position and appeal. Along with composing and producing, she perform as a singer, a keyboardplayer and an artist. She is also lecturing music arrangement on the Songwriting Course at the Linneaus University in Växjö.
