an unusual choice of chords, builds a lot of tension

This piece unfolds like a complete story, each section carefully placed, rising and falling like chapters in a film score. There’s no rush, no filler, just a slow and steady build that knows exactly what it’s doing. The rhythm carries a sense of movement, like something important is happening just beneath the surface, and the melody wraps around it like weather. It’s cinematic in the best way, full of feeling, without needing to explain. 🧊 The fridge clicked softly and said, “Every shift in this feels earned, like it knows where it’s going” 🔔 The microwave gave a low hum and added, “This is what it sounds like when a story speaks through music instead of words” 🧀 The cheese grater gave a sly scrape and muttered, “Nothing missing here, it’s all packed and headed somewhere bold.” It’s complete, confident, and beautifully paced, the kind of track that travels without ever needing to rush.

We may not have traveled far and wide,  but Keith has a way of transporting us all over the world through his curious mind and love of history. So, why are we in Italy? Simply put, Keith loves Vespas ;)  Actually, he loves the idea of the band touring Italy on Vespas, funky hipster wheels and recording tunes as we go.  The "Sock Puppets" was a theme Keith developed as he created some videos depicting travels with the WAG puppets.

The Eclectic Collective – composition

This song began with JJ, as many of our songs do, who composed the outline on the keys, drums, and bass. He then let everyone else in on it immediately. Ken was first up to bat by laying his always cunning drums in there. After he had a beat to work with, Josh used his tree trunk of a five-string fretless bass to complete the rhythm section. Soon after, Tez and Stephen both laid their magical guitars in there. Once we had it all in the can, Stephen used his powers of production to give us a great mix.
  This one came together relatively quickly, which is a good sign that we're all enthusiastic about what we're creating. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

Mellow Travels (Eclectic Collective)

Another unpretentious pop song. I kind of like the chorus and the instrumental bridge. It should be shorter, but it came out that way, with an extra minute.

Started writing this late at night April 14th into April 15th, 1-3am, one of those unexpected nights. I had a feeling, a thought and this came together fast. Finished it up today and did this live take tonight on the ol Baldwin. It's been awhile since something has struck me so quick. This is a song I was like...well I don't care this is how I feel so I'm writing this. True feelings. Thanks to everyone that listens!:)

This song began when Joe, feeling a bit nostalgic, wrote the lyrics and composed it on his acoustic guitar. He recorded it and sang it with expert harmonies, then decided to share it with Eclectic Collective. We were all very excited to get work on our second song with Joe, as we all admire his songwriting.

  First up was Tez this time, oddly enough. He was able to identify all the fill spots and light up the solo without the rest of us even adding anything yet. Next came Ken, who usually goes first, adding his steady grooving drums and tasty percussion. Once the drums were down, Josh completed the rhythm section by adding his fretted bass. He also worked out an organ part to give the whole sound a bit of thickness. Also adding some thickness and texture, Stephen added a clean electric rhythm part, as well. 

  Once we had it in can we asked Stephen to mix and produce it for us, which he did in his always expert fashion. 

  This, as mentioned, is Eclectic Collective's second song with Joe, and we all enjoyed bringing it to life with him. He's a wonderful collaborator and an all around good dude. Do yourself a favor and go check out his page, which is rich in great songs. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.
