This EP was recorded around a documentary film "Papa Hédi", that looks at the life and legacy of celebrated Tunisian musician Hédi Jouini. 
We started writing the score in the summer of 2011 as specific cues for the film and using short samples from Hédi's music. 
In the autumn we decided to develop the cues to make full tracks and the results are on this record.

For decades people have asked: what is house music? Whether it is DJ Pierre, Todd Terry, LFO or Terre Thaemlitz they all present the most disparate answers. With their newest EP on Freude Am Tanzen Taron-Trekka delivers four more and herewith demonstrate Larry Heard and Robert Owens as Fingers Inc. at the end are perhaps the most appropriate design from ol' Uncle Jack. Of course, there is the still valid, House is a Feeling. A feeling that in the best case is a warm pulsating shower that falls evenly over your head, heart and legs.

Mit ihrer neuesten EP auf Freude Am Tanzen liefern Taron-Trekka nun vier weitere und beweisen damit, dass Larry Heard und Robert Owens als Fingers Inc. am Ende vielleicht noch immer die treffendste Auslegung vom alten Onkel Jack parat hatten. Denn noch immer gilt: House is a Feeling. Ein Gefühl nämlich, das einem im besten Falle als warm pulsierender Schauer gleichermaßen in Kopf, Herz und Beine fährt.

Pomelo introduces Motor City's superbly talented Kemetrix, aka Soulwerkz Detroit.

Part of the Mahogani Music family thus closely associated to Moodymann as well as Sherard Ingram aka DJ Stingray, Kemetrix blazes a unique path through soul, funk, ghettotech and sci-fi electro styles. 'Soulbrother #3' brings both KDJ's deepness and Stingray's futurism to the table, merging both sides of Detroit's 20th century musical heritage, Motown and Metroplex, in singular fashion. 

Kemetrix's influences range from Curtis Mayfield's falsetto vocal style and social commentary, to George Clinton's collage production style, and J Dilla's raw and unquantized beat programming. Kemetrix's music comes from the ghetto. It is raw, intense, and authentic, a unique expression of the struggle and hardships of Detroit inner city life - true soul music for the 21st century.

Berlin-based producer Aera has been travelling off the beaten path ever since he first went on the road with his Aleph Music label back in 2010. With only 5 releases he already laid out his very own musical topography in the borderlands in between House, UK bass and psychedelia.

Aera is now excited to present his debut album, Offseason Traveller. It is a personal notebook of his voyage of discovery to the vast landscapes of Peru and Bolivia, fleeing Berlin in pursuit of new ideas, eyes and ears. Drawing upon influences as diverse as German krautrock, Detroit machine funk, South American ethnic percussion and UK bass music, Offseason Traveller takes the listener on an exploration through the ever active imagination of Aera.

Album concepts are hard to shape with regards to electronic dance music, but Aera has sequenced his debut just right: From the opening off-beat ambience of ‘Kiss Off’ and ‘Baby - Comet - Face’, the joyful, morning glow of ‘Fever Beach’ and the dusky, dubby ‘Cambio’ we are taken to the swinging, jacking, 303-drenched peaks of ‘Leaving The Fiction’ and ‘Chevere’ towards the trotting Shaolin funk of ‘Die Pferden’. The syncopated beatdown-ish funk of ‘Viejo Loco’, the blippy space-opera of ‘Flipside Of Time’ and the industrial, Carpenter-esqe filmscore of ‘Tunguska’ close the harder, more percussive mid-section of the album. To finish our voyage of discovery, ‘Iguazu Express’ takes the listener into the closing straits with a spine-shaking, deep house groove while ‘By The Red Lake’ berths us at our home port with sparkling keys, evocative vibrations and squelching waves of joy.

Offseason Traveller was cut and mastered by CGB at D&M and will be distributed worldwide by Wordandsound as CD, 2x12” (incl. download code) & digital.

…and bad times. Lyrically, Hot Coins candidly delves into fear and paranoia motivated by the destructive excesses of modern clubbing. The dark side of the dancefloor, the inevitable comedown and the transcendence that can follow. 

‘Geek Emotions’ is the first single to be taken from upcoming album ‘The Damage Is Done’ - a loser’s anthem for the eternal underdog. It means more when a geek wins than when a winner does - but geeks never win. No-one tells that story. The track features guitar from Chris Todd of Crazy P, saxophone by Pippa Marland and a lead vocal by City Hayes. 

Informed by sounds from A Certain Ratio to The Strokes, ‘Freestyle Lover’ sets the tone for the upcoming album. As well as Berman’s vocal debut he also played all instrumentation – taking the punk-DIY ethos literally.

A stunning remix from Dresden based DJ/producer and Trans-Media-Lab artist Jacob Korn completes the EP. 

LP ‘The Damage Is Done’ will be released by Sonar Kollektiv in early 2013.
