The boys brining their eclectic, passionate and personal sound from the beautiful landscapes of Southern Italy.  Always venturing into new paths, their sound takes from their old school influence to create a groove infusion. Freak Out blends soft and delicate keys with graceful vocals to lead you into a dreamy state.  The percussion builds before the bass takes the track on a forward bounce.  With phases of euphoria offset by those of rolling thunder, this track is one for the floor.

Apollo 84 has been making waves for his dark and energetic style of production. Releases on such labels as Nurvous, King Street Sounds and Deep Freeze and remixes for the likes of Vanilla Ace, Low Steppa and Matteo Rosolare. Radio play on Radio 1, Kiss FM and Rinse FM and ever growing recognition have seen him land two number 1 selling records.

He takes Freak Out back to the old school with rolling percussion and warm radiant vocals adding to the flavour. The deeply lurking bass line teases in and out throughout as the elements swirl in all directions leading you astray to a darker finale.

That rounds up 8 artists to complete for now Pocket Money's Hustlers EP's before moving forward next time on to some solo EP's forthcoming. "Pocket Money records is a vinyl only label with their feet in Manchester but with their minds and hearts firmly in their spiritual homes of Chicago and Detroit. This independent label is focused completely on the release of only the finest modern underground house music. Their most recent offering is due out on the 13th of April in all good records stores.

This EP is a collaboration between 4 of their newest artists to give the listening public a taster of what is yet to come later on in the year. First up is James Johnston, this Glasgow native is no stranger to the house music game. With a string of releases in the last few years he has featured on labels such as Gerd’s 4lux and Kolour’s off shoot Undertones. But not content with releasing music on other peoples labels he decided to set up No Matter What with fellow PMR artist Alex Agore. Alex was featured on Pocket Money Records debut offering “Hustler EP Part 1″. Johnston’s track on the Hustlers EP, “House Sound” is a true house track through and through. A perfect kick drum and hi-hat combo is accompanied by synth chords and a howling vocal sample to give you everything you need to make a great house anthem.

Next up is the Berlin native, Jemaho. Real name Jean Marie Houvenaghel. He is also the brain behind Jazzy Butterfly Records with long time associate Jason Shaw AKA 4TRAK Music. Jemaho’s feature on the record, entitled “Ghosts Inside Me” allows for a smooth transition between tracks with a heavy old school Detroit house feel to it. This track instantly makes you want to move and will be a welcomed addition to dj’s sets.

Then on the B side we are greeted by the Dutchman Robert Reinartz, who’s most recent release was in October of last year. “Tearz EP” was done on freche fruchte recordings. This classic house EP reminds the listener of Strictly Rhythm or a Todd Terry classic. On this record though “Stay With Him” is a faster track to welcome you onto the other side of the wax. While the vibe of old school house continues throughout Roberts track is a harder hitting kick drum lead track which has a strong Kerri Chandler feel to it.

Last but certainly not least is Soul Habitat which is an independent deep house project with its musical roots firmly attached to early garage house style. Based in Poland and with a history of making bass music this is a new direction and one which I have very few complaints about.  “City Lights” is my favourite track on this record, with its bouncing beat and melodic soulfulness its an instant hit and when a saxophone sample is introduced to the equation it takes the record as a whole to a whole other level."

After nine releases on their KVK series of the Karlovak label, KVK1000 will be the tenth and final release on the KVK imprint (god save her soul). In it’s place arises the new KRLVK series. While the concept series KVK exclusively featured releases from the label-lords themselves, the new KRLVK series will sport work from other artists with releases from Radio Slave, Ben Sims, and the Chicago house legend DJ Jes already lined up.

First up on KRLVK is Ben Sims who delivers a burning EP of disco infused house and techno bombs.

DJ Qu joins us this week as he promotes his new album, Conjure. The highly credible producer started off over 10 years ago with fellow NY producers such as Jus Ed, Fred P, Levon Vincent, and Anthony Parasole. Since then, he has released a number of EPs and two albums. As Qu explains, his unique sound comes from his background as a professional dancer rather than coming up as a traditional clubber. As a DJ, he is regularly playing across Europe and he also does a monthly show on NTS Radio.

Circoloco is about as DC-10 as DC-10 gets. From humble beginnings in 1999 the Monday party (which still holds down the same weekly slot today) has become one of the most desirable Ibiza has to offer, irresistible to anyone who likes clubbing in its purist form.

Line-ups overflow with techno talent every week with DJs practically lining up to play; the Circoloco reputation is as strong on the industry side as it is for the clubbers. The careers of Tania Vulcano, Loco Dice and Luciano owe much to their involvement with DC-10 Monday afternoons, which stirred up a buzz that has never died.

Circoloco has a very colourful history, as fancy dress was once an unofficial pre-requisite to attendance. The atmosphere was wild and joyous – a true representation of the ‘anything goes’ ethos of Ibiza. Whilst fewer people dip into the dress-up box these days, the same community prevails of clubbers coming together for sheer joy of music – no frills necessary.

2008/9 saw a difficult time in the party’s progress, as a series of enforced closures and legal issues threatened to cripple it. Circoloco bounced back in 2010 however and has been looking forward ever since. The iconic clown face has since travelled across the globe, throwing Circoloco parties across the continents every year, however DC-10 will always be home.

He’s back in the kitchen… After a summer of endless touring Madrid-based Garcia has returned to his flavour lab to cook up a whole new wealth of grooves and the future is looking tasty. 

Last spotted on Pets in 2013 - and since serving up styles on some of the most respected labels in techno – Pokerflat, Freerange, Darkroom, Perspectiv and Supplement Facts - Garcia provides two quintessential winter warmers. ‘I Never Knew’ chugs with a full bodied dynamic that’s nicely reminiscent of Yoshitoshi 15-20 years ago as molten machines create a funk that wraps itself around the short-but-perfectly formed humanised sample. 

“Trimmer” lives up to its name with his signature Hypnotic Vibes less-is-more flow. A precision-chiselled groove that spirals deeper and deeper into itself, it comprises nothing but a bubblesome bass lick, sturdy kicks, subtle FX and an undulating synth line that ripples almost majestically. A serious DJ tool for those who like their understated blends to suddenly catch you by surprise, this is the epitome of restrained. 

Speaking of surprise, just on Mr Tophat’s remix of ‘I Never Knew’. Closing the show with a true switch-flipper, the second you think you have the remix and its slinky Brett Johnson/Classis Music style groove locked down BOOM… In come those organs and a whole heap more. Nine minutes of heaven – you won’t be trimming this one down in a hurry. You won’t be trimming any of them. Enjoy…
