AZ&TOR - Sit Back VIP

A label based in Shanghai, China, might be an unlikely place to source quality-strewn, unlikely and eclectic electronic music, but in saying that, there's nothing too obvious about the merits of the OD Music Group; a label that's tasted some success recently thanks to their shrewd A&R'ing. Chris Gresswell's recent bass/house hybrid for the label was testament to the latter fact, while on their latest release, Persian Empire rubs shoulders with the returning Ariel Camusso for an EP that's positively dripping in nuanced, colourful vibes.

To the more casual listener the name Ben Pearce may spring only one thing to mind: his oddly platinum selling deep-house debut ‘What I Might Do’, that dominated club floors across the world in 2012, whilst garnering support from the likes of Jamie Jones, Heidi and Pete Tong. If you say the name Ben Pearce to us however it is images of his fast rising label Purp & Soul that are immediately conjured complete with excitement about in which direction Ben may be taking the imprints sound next.

The last few years have seen a rapid ascent for Ben and co. and we’re pleased to say that despite their successes the Purp & Soul crew remained grounded, still making music for the love of it as a tight knit group of talented artists pushing a wide range of genres whilst retaining a distinctly UK sound. For their 11th release they’ve turned to Cy Humphreys who caught the labels attention last year with releases on Arthouse and Development, both of which have been  regular fixtures in the Purp & Soul label owner’s sets. Titled ‘Dove Culture’ the inbound EP is as its name suggests a homage to 90s hardcore and rave culture revoking memories of the decades via its pitched vocals and distinctive drum breaks. The single comes backe by three remixes, the pick of the bunch for our money being Jamie Anderson’s take on Dove culture with the Artform boss retaining the spirit of the original whilst placing a firm emphasis on instilling a groove. Other reworks come from fellow DT favourites Apes and Seb Wildblood for a package that will be sure to be getting plenty of play at DT HQ in the coming months. Slated to arrive July 14 check out Jamie’s excellent remix of ‘Dove Culture now.

Detroit's dynamic duo Golf Clap link with Los Angeles-based producer Todd Edwards to deliver the smooth and sultry house gem aptly titled 'Come Together'. 

Set for release on Golf Clap's Country Club Disco imprint, the collaboration is the first from the trio. Edwards has been busy in the studio working on his next single 'Catch My Breath' while Golf Clap just released the 'Mind Control' EP on Relief with Jojo Angel and Matteo Rosolare that's been getting rinsed by the likes of Carl Cox throughout the year. Now 'Come Together' fuses the best of their sound profiles to reveal a groove based jam primed for the dancefloor. 

Look for 'Come Together' to be released November 27.
