Quickly following up the last, instant sell-out smash, Shir Khan's infamous "Black Jukebox" series hit us with the 12th edition. Introducing anonymous project Aussteiger who gets things bouncing with the Summer house monster, "Bangbao". Lush filter sweeps, twinkling keys and powerful bass are order of the day here as the producer works his magic on one of the sunniest grooves we've heard this year. "Return" keeps that outdoor terrace flavour but plunges us deep into the twilight, tribal drums and deep electronics locking us into its hypnotic recess. Martin Lewis contributes a seriously fun and summery version of "Now That We Found Love", utilizing glorious xylophones and horns throughout the melody and letting it roll out with aplomb. Finally, we get the cheeky "Do It" edit which combines hypnotic congas with funky guitar licks and a sun-burnt, Latin energy to create a sizzling brew of hot dancefloor energy. Great stuff! The time has come to blow out another candle on the cake, this time around Crossfrontier Audio is turning 4 years old... and we’re keeping up steam to blow out more! Customary with every birthday bash we throw, this year we’ve doubled up with a label showcase at Amsterdam Dance Event, and a 2-part special release celebrating four years of your favourite Berlin based label.

Through the many moments that have made our label, this year has been no different for pushing our sound passionately across the World’s dance-floors, festivals and beyond. Over the last 12 months we’ve had 12 releases, including EP’s from key artists MUUI and Yoram, we’ve had Jonas Saalbach and THe WHite SHadow blow everyone out of the park with killer releases, Amentia and Foreign Guest gave us remarkable debuts, MUUI and Marc Poppcke gave us their long-awaited debut albums, and if that wasn’t enough, we teamed up with some of the best in the game to give you some deadly remixes from the likes of Einmusik, Solee, Los Suruba and Rashid Ajami – what a year!

You’d think with turning 4, it’d be easy to sit back and enjoy the ride? Yet Crossfrontier Audio won’t stop, we’re gearing up for another year and we’re gunning for our 50th release too! The next of which is a mix of label favourites and exciting new artists who feature on our 2-part 4 Years of Crossfrontier Audio, due for release mid of October – stay in the mix as you will not be disappointed, with a nod to the past and a look to the future, we certainly have a few surprises for you.

After his major EP on Huelsuse, with a bomb Ramon Tapia remix, we are happy to welcome back the gifted French producer on Atmosphere Records with The Good Life EP. Remcord's sound has been evolving a lot lately and we have the pleasure to present you his latest two tracks, together with 2 amazing remixes by Hanne & Lore and Beatamines.

The Good Life is an emotional song, slowly emerging around a bluesy guitar riff. Hanne & Lore reworked the track to a contemporary dance floor tune and the second remix was supplied by Beatamines, who gave it his own magical touch!
Goma is the second original and again the key sound is a guitar, this time used in a more funky way and the minimal beats allign perfectly into a major break. All hands up in the air!

After the stellar Nunchi EP on the Moodmusic label last year, the ever more acclaimed Ed Ed is now back with his standout follow up, the Namaimo EP. It features four cuts of typically absorbing house music and marks his most impressive work to date.
Ed Ed is Edmond Weinfeld, a Berlin based producer who has also released on OFF, had a big single on Defected’s DFTD last year and also A&Rs for the Moodmusic label. His music roams from deep house to techno and back again and he places great emphasis on clean lines, vibrant bass and a cool sense of energy, as this new and mature musical work proves.
Up first is the tantalising title track, a broody seven minute opus defined by its big bold bass strokes. Slick percussion and rolling kicks form the groove down below, but that bass is what sticks out, as well as some lithe and sci-fi synths that perform acrobatics up top.
‘Lilly (My Love Is Away)’ comes next and is less settled in a groove. Instead it has squelchy drums and perc making for a more turbulent rhythm that has big bass and subtle little chords running right through it. Shady and atmospheric and full of late night menace, it is a well balanced track once more.
The striking ‘Sentinel’ proves Ed Ed can programme tight, corrugated drum lines and crisp, snapping perc that makes you want to dance a physical dance, and when the tender male vocals come in you really are carried away to a better place. Last but not least, ‘Starsign’ marries deep house drums with explosive and starry melodies, big blasts of frazzled synth and plenty of colourful intergalactic soul. It’s a real head turner, for sure.
Ed Ed is fast becoming one of the most essential house producers of his day. This EP is a fine statement of intent and is one that will move DJs and dancers in emotive ways.
